I have been steering clear of AAC ammo. Seems like the YouTube shills like it, but regular Joes not so much. How does a case even get like that?

Yup. I once got a round of Remington UMC 9mm that had a primer that had 1/3 of it cut off installed in the pocket. I may still have it around here somewhere, but found an old pic.

On one occasion when I committed the unpardonable act of buying factory ammo (my excuse is that I had just acquired an inherited 94 in .30-30 for which I never intended to reload), I got a round in the box which had no primer at all. When you're making a bazillion and a half of something each day, you're bound to make a mistake now and then.

Looks like primer was seated sideways somehow.

Years ago i was into rifles and prarie dogs. Working 7 days a week didn't leave much time for brass prep. On grave yard one night i was deburing flash hole out of a bag of 22-250brass and noticed the deburing tool didn't go through the primer hole. Inspected brass and it was a 25 Winchester short magum with a primer in it. This was probably a year before it was announced.
