The one good buck I had on camera disappeared before the regular season started and he hasn't been seen since.

Never could get an arrow into this one or even see him on the hoof. Son thinks he saw him but he had already gotten his buck ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/01/full-1562-442883-img_0325.jpeg) This is the one he saw. I’m not certain it’s the same deer, but it probably is
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I don't know how to post pictures but I let three or four nice bucks walk this year. I have pictures on my phone that we took of them on the computer screen when we checked the trail cameras.

My target from last year showed up for the first time after I had already tagged out. I actually put a stalk on this guy last year, crawling the last 150 yards or so, and ended up taking an off-hand shot from open tall grass, that hit high. It dropped him like a sack and I thought he was done, but he quickly regained his composure while I was navigating the tall grass and got to his feet and scalded out of there for the next county. He's still looking pretty stout for post-rut, and assuming he makes it, he's back at #1 for next year. You can see the scar from the shot on his left high shoulder. No idea how he shook that one off, but he did it. ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54257767661_c89bdf4647_c.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54256876797_dfaf9eed37_c.jpg)

That’s why I feel purposely shooting for the high shoulder does not allow much room for error if you hit a little high.

![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/01/full-57062-443754-img_7212.jpeg) This deer only came by two or three times all season. Sadly, I was never there when he did

We had him at about 60 yds on October 6th and he winded us. My 13 yr old was hunting with his Xbow. Whitey became very very scarce after that moment.

I missed the last 3-4 weeks of hunting due to flu and respitory illness. Here are some bucks that were on our cameras after season. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-64747-444076-buck_1_made_thru_season.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-64747-444077-buck_2_made_thru_season.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-64747-444078-buck_3_made_thru_season.jpg)

![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/02/full-68829-444120-img_3685.png) Story on this one….. my 12 year old son wanted to hunt this stand on a Saturday evening and I talked him out of it. The next morning he slept in and I hunted the stand that he wanted to hunt. I pulled the card when I was done and this deer was there at 4:45 that evening I talked him out of it. He was pissed!😂
