Never had one. Thought they were corny when I was younger. Now I have a desire to get one. I like the old ones, chief, 642 or 442. My gun nut buddy says stick with S&W, but I’m pretty open.

Now there are some newer ones, a 9mm would be cool. Seen new 32 magnums that have 6 shots. Not sure about their power vs 38.

S&W 637 Airweight

S&W Airweight cant go wrong, also look at the hammerless models.
.38 special is hard to beat in this platform.

Initially I had your same sentiment until I actually shot one. I was surprised how accurate the Smith & Wesson Centennial was. I’ve been eyeing the newer Smith and Wesson 340pd, you can purchase those new with no lock and they come chambered in 357 Magnum in case you want the extra power.

S&W model 37 Airweight. 15.9 ounces loaded.

I prefer the 638, but an LCR is good as well. Or something like a 642. The full Hammer models like a 637 will be harder to get out of your pocket if you decide to carry them that way. 638 is kind of the Best of both worlds in that aspect IMO.

Something in like a 327 mag would probably be okay, but the 38 special is just fine and ammo is easily available and comes in a wide variety

I would skip the 9 mm revolvers as I have seen 9 mm jump crimp and lock up the gun, even in a heavier revolver, much less an air weight model with more recoil

Smith also makes the airweight 357, but I might skip that one as 357 in an 11 oz gun is going to be pretty brutal. Ruger makes a 357 LCR that is a little heavier, but overall I really like five shots Smiths

I’m not a fan of how the ruger lcr looks. I like the stainless look with wood grips. 50 rounds will probably last me 10 years. I think I prefer the hammerless, but probably lose a round

My grandfather's duty pistol from when he served as Police Chief of Pawhuska. It's a smith and is a great shooter. I still shoot it occasionally. I also have a Ruger sp101. It's a great shooter and does get carried sometimes. Especially around the ranch where I may want the extra power of .357. I have a buddy with a smith airweight 357. I shot it exactly once. That light of a revolver with full house 357 sucked.

I have as Colt Detective Special, left to me by my grandfather. It's not light, though.

Bought one of these for my wife to carry in her purse. Not much not to like.

I bought my wife a Taurus 856 to plink with. She doesn’t carry, but wanted her to be proficient with something at home if I’m away. Taurus has an ultra light version as well.

When I was in between carry guns I carried this for a few months and actually enjoyed carrying it.

I have a larger 357 tracker model from Taurus as well and both have been flawless. I know a lot of people look down on Taurus, me included on their semi autos, but their revolvers seem good to go.

637-2 Performance Center. I shoot it out to 20 yards with a lot of confidence. Great single action trigger.

I've got a Taurus model 85 that was dad's and a S&W model 12 that was grandpa's. Love them both. Tons of rounds through both with no issues.

Love mine. It's a handy little package.





Now, not a suggestion but simply sharing the beauty of an heirloom snubby... but may vex a few folks due to the apparent destruction of value...

U.S. Army 1917 Colt cut down by my great-grandfather just after the war. He was a terrific gunsmith. As passed down from my grandfather, word is this pistol also saw action during the strike and gunfight at Matewan in 1920.

S&W or Ruger blue or stainless. Air weight recoil is noticeably greater.

Pleasant to carry is unpleasant to shoot. Having both blue steel and air weight model, I prefer the heavier.

The S&W Airweight hammerless is what I own. Cool little truck gun...

I'd like to get one of those old turn of the century H&Rs or Iver Johnsons in 32 or 38 S&W.

Smith & Wesson is coming out with 3 models with "No-Lock".

Yep wife has the s&w air weight hammerless 38 +p great little revolver. Simple for her to use

I've got a Charter Arms that I got given to me. It's a cheap little pistol but has always went bang every time the trigger was pulled.

Nothing wrong with the "lower cost" options, finishes might be a tad rough but like you say, they do go bang!
