With the Super Bowl foolishness about to crest, I'd have to paraphrase Montelius Walsh: "You have no idea how little I care...".

After lunch, the She-Wolf and I did some stonework in front of the greenhouse, then adjourned to the pistol range for a little "practice with a purpose". As she routinely carries a 2.5" Model 66, I joined her with a 2.5" Model19...and her old "Perfected" SP-101 tuned by Hamilton Bowen came along for company.

She burned through one cylinder blowing dust out of her barrel, and then quickly reminded me why I don't give her any trouble. Het hits were all in a little angry swarm in single action mode; she swapped to DA and her groups SHRANK. What's the old saying..."If Mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy"? With Jane, "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody BREATHING".

I ran the Model 19 against the Texas Star a few times; that's a gadget that MAKES you watch your front sight...and you don't dare "spray and pray" when you've only got six chances!

Clockwise from upper left: S&W 66 2.5", S&W 19 2.5", "Perfected" SP-101

Thanks, Bill! How'd that .44-40 ammo work out?

Can I play too?

The one at 12:00 is a model 27-2, 65, 19, 66, 642, 29, then the model 649 at 11:00. It took years of hunting to find them all. In person and on the internet.

That's a fine collection!

I'm especially envious of the 27-2 and the 65. I had a Model 13 years ago and traded it away in a fit of something or other...what you might call a mistake of youth!

Well the 65-5 is actually a 3". I don't know if that would classify as a snub or not. I try to give them all their due share of exercise.

Heck, Jane's SP-101 is a three inch and I always considered it a snubbie...besides, I'm not aware of any hard and fast rules for the genre anyway!

Call it whatever you like!

I’m going to add a Model 19 at some point. I love the way they look.

Mark, your .44-40 loads cycled great and shot very nicely at 50 yards -- on "Super Sunday." I had forgotten what a simple pleasure it is to shoot 1860s/1870s Winchester lever guns in .44 WCF. Thanks again for bailing me out on the brass.
Only snubby I have is a Charter Arms Bulldog, which I keep with a snake load up top, then four of a moderate load of Universal under the RCBS Keith.

Mark, those Keiths don't need to be going very fast to do some serious work ...

True fact. And if the slugs get heavier and faster it gets really impressive. I'm shooting some 325 grain gas-checked slugs out of a five-shot Ruger Bisley that a single hog hasn't been able to stop!

there is a lot to be said for momentum. Big bullets moving slow and eat up to the hole.
