Hi Folks I want to know if anyone out there has built a custom 280 Ackley?

I want a custom build with a Tikka action I wonder how that could be done and what components mixes are possible.

Yes, it can be done, I have done them. In 280 AI, you will have right at an inch of magazine space for the bullet to protrude from the case and still fit in the magazine, check your intended bullet and see if this creates an issue for you. Pick a barrel blank of your choice, the factory barrel is smaller than most at the shoulder/action interface. There are a few ways to deal with this if your chosen blank is 1.2” or 1.25” diameter. You can also take a chance and get a Pre Fit barrel from one of the suppliers and put it on yourself. Pick a stock, AgComp, McMillan and MCS are offering Tikka inlets in some but not all of their models. Bell and Carlson make a more budget friendly stock. Boyd’s has them in laminate as well. XLR, KRG, MDT all make chassis for them if you prefer those. Use the stock trigger, they are good. Personally, I like 280AI builds done on long actions, and would not do one on a Tikka.

For a one time rifle, buy the Tikka in 280 Rem, then send the gun to Brux Barrels in SD, pick out a barrel
you want, and go from there. Skies the limit as what you want to do with it! Hunt, or compete in match shootings?

What i hear theres a pretty good wait time now on custom stuff. Might not be back in time to hunt this fall in Texas,
if thats your goal! Just saw a cutom Ruger No.1 the ole fellow did in 22-250AI, it was sweet!......
