I support his efforts, but how does Abbott have the authority to fire him? I don’t know how this works.

I support his efforts, but how does Abbott have the authority to fire him? I don’t know how this works. The governor appoints the board of regents. I’m not sure if he has authority to fire people granted by the education or administrative code or if it’s a matter of calling the board and saying to make him history. I don’t think it’s an issue either way though. I had to read all about this for some work reason but I’ve slept many times since then.

It's amazing that they've made an industry out of feelings.

It's amazing that they've made an industry out of feelings. It's like all things supported by the democratic party, someone always is getting paid down stream. Behind all the high and mighty great ideas for our society that these A--holes come up with it's nothing but a money grab. The best example of this, Solyndra. Big Green New Energy Solar great company promoted by Obama. That company was a sham, STOLE millions from tax payers and left companies holding a lot of debt when they went belly up. Ask me how I know. DEI is worse, at least green energy does create some short term jobs, DEI, nothing but feelings that people are getting paid to talk about and promote.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I had to be polite because I was at his house, but the crap he was saying was ridiculous. He goes around the country consulting with companies. He might be out of a job soon, if we keep trending in the right direction.

He'll make up something else to lecture people about.

AM isn't the bastion of conservatism some think it is. 80k students. Anyone that thinks you can put 80k people in a place and they all will have the same ideology is just foolish Student body ideology is driven by management aka school administrators and professors. The customer isn’t always right, and quicker school Administrators hold everyone to a truely non discriminate student handbook, the more peaceful and tolerant the student body is. As a result, it becomes truly focused on education and not an expression of ideologies. There is a fundamental difference between state funded and private. State universities should have zero tolerance for any thing but learning, allowing any protest is disruptive and corruptive to the charter of those learning institutions.
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, b/c they know not victory nor defeat"- #26 TR

Girl at the local A&M campus here started a petition because she wanted to be able to take her kids to class with her, said it was discrimination to not allow it, lol.
Only crime committed was whatever farm animal that was willing to get her bred.

Most people don't understand the power that the A&M System has in the State of Texas. The campus in College Station is what everyone thinks of when they hear A&M, but that is just a small piece of the pie. They have a dozen or so different universities plus several state agencies on their "Extension" side, including the Texas Division of Emergency Managment, which used to be housed under the Texas DPS until after Hurricane Harvey. They also have the Texas Forest Service, which is the statewide agency for wildfire response. The A&M System is very powerful, but the Governor controls a lot of the purse strings there. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2025/01/full-8739-442649-picture1.png)

The racial and ethnic breakdown of students at Texas A&M University is: White: 51.7% Hispanic or Latino: 22.8% Asian: 10.5% Two or more races: 3.35% Black or African American: 2.66% American Indian or Alaska Native: 0.224% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander: 0.0419% My son is in the Engineering program. Lots of Indians. Not many girls. Typical for any engineering program.
