on a 10 acre site at the south east corner of Hillcrest & LBJ that is fairly close to the house That is some expensive land with a lot of commercial buildings that will have to be dozed. https://dallas.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/heb-hillcrest-lbj-freeway/Supermarket chain H-E-B acquires site for its first store in DallasDallas is finally in line to get an H-E-B. According to a release, the Texas supermarket chain has purchased property in Dallas: a 10-acre site at the southeast corner of Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway. H-E-B has been expanding its store network across the DFW Metroplex, but this represents the first commitment to opening a store within the city of Dallas. The site is a nearly 10-acre property at the southeast corner of Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway, inside the loop in Dallas. Now that the purchase of the property is complete, H-E-B will work with neighbors and city officials on rezoning and planning efforts for the retailer’s preliminary plans to bring its first H-E-B format store in the city of Dallas to that site. Additional details will be shared as the project develops. “While we have a lot of work to do, we look forward to connecting with our neighbors, the city, and community stakeholders to ensure we create a destination that best supports this community,” said Mabrie Jackson, Public Affairs Managing Director for H-E-B and Central Market. “This is the first step in a long process, and we hope to share more details with our neighbors soon.” A subsidiary of H-E-B purchased the property. The terms of the purchase were not disclosed. The store represents the fulfillment of a longtime desire from Dallas shoppers to get their own H-E-B, which until now had only opened or planned locations in a ring of suburbs that include: Location.

I loved HEB when I was a kid.
I shopped at the HEB on San Pedro last week.
They are expensive compared to Kroger.

I went to our local HEB last week, and walked out with no fresh tortillas again. None on the shelves. Bakery employee told me to come back manana around noon, this was at prime time 5PM. When your the only grocery store for 30 miles in any direction, I guess being #1 is easy.

There’s only one HEB in San Marcos that has a tortilla machine. The other HEB is like a big convenience store.

At the new one in Mansfield, I found the prices better than Kroger on most things and equal or slightly better than WM on other things. The self checkout is better than either store.

It may have some prices that are higher, but it has way better produce and meat. If only they weren't liberal

Is S.A.H. the tortilla guy for THF? Maybe it's because I'm on the border, but our HEBs have like 10 different kinds of tortillas minimum and 3 different kinds of fresh (still hot) available at all times. Pretty sure they could loss lead with everything else and make 7-figures with tortillas down here.

HEB is fairly new to me. I’ve been impressed with their products. Some store layouts are a bit confusing, or just different to me.
They have been smart and put them in nicer DFW suburbs. That one in Dallas will be a homeless Mecca.

Do the northern stores get theirs from the same distributors or are they made in house? I should just setup shop down the block with a cart, lol.

Flour are the only ones made in house, and no hot corn tortillas up here, that I know of.

I expect with all this growth, we’ll be getting a lot of new stuff but would rather stay small. We are getting close to 40B dollars in investments over next few years and will be the next McKinney sooner rather than later. Coming home from work I now have to wait in the red light 1417/82 3-4 times to get through it, used to I didn’t even have to stop of possibly wait through one light with 1-2 other cars. Traffic is already starting to suck. I want to find some land up in OK and commute south to Sherman for work but Amanda isn’t wanting to drive an hour to work
