Carrie Rodriguez and Chip Taylor. I found this video someone had made about 10 years ago and downloaded it. The West Texas thread reminded me of it. It's a nearly perfect song...especially if you're from, or even know, the panhandle.

We could get cooking on some good ole west textures. Love it.

And don't go long on that touchdown fade route to the endzone in Memphis!

It's hard to feel sorry for someone with one leg who shoots themself in the foot.

Song isn’t my style, but don’t speed through that town.

Big fan of Chip and Carrie’s stuff. Met them both back in 02 or 03 at Bills Records and tapes.
One of my favorites of theirs.

Estelline is where you really should be careful.

Very cool, didn't know that.

I really like Carrie, and I think her grandmother was from Memphis and is the reason for the song, but admittedly this song is all I really know about Chip. As for the song itself, we've had a place in the panhandle for about 15 years and it really has become home, which has made the song very relatable to the wife and me. We actually have a dusty old road by the back of one of our barns.
