I was watching some spy movie recently, and this assassin opened up his case, assembled a rifle from parts and made a long shot. You’ve seen that in movies and TV a few times, I’m sure. Personally, I’ve never seen a rifle like that, but simply taking a scope off and putting it back on introduces some loss of accuracy (at least for me). So, I ask the more knowledgeable folks on the forum if a true take-down rifle can be extremely accurate. And by take-down, our TV sniper attaches barrel to action and then a scope goes on. Have you serious shooters ever seen such a rifle, and what level of accuracy could you expect from one?

Blazer and Mauser have perfected it many years ago.
No issues with accuracy, both are extremely accurate.

I've never pulled off a cammed barrel, and then reinstalled it. But I can see how it could work. If the head spacing varies by a few thousandths every time, it could still shoot well.
I have removed scope and rings, then reinstalled many times. The scope held zero almost on the same bullet hole that it fired before I took the scope off.

I suppose if a fellow spends enough money with a top level gun maker, it would be doable to have a rifle you could assemble/disassemble. They do look impressive in the movies.
Just a few days ago I swapped out my Wraith for my Athlon scope on the Grendel, and was happy that the scope needed no adjustment. But I never really expect it to go that well. That’s the only rifle I ever regularly swap scopes on.
So, to answer my own question, if enough money is spent with just the right gun maker, I suppose a real skeletonized rifle and stock and detachable barrel and scope is realistic.

Have taken scope of a pic rail and reinstalled and still been dead on. Seen advertisements for switch barrel rifles where they took barrel off and on between shots and maintained sub moa. I’d assume it’s def. possible.

I have a Blaser R8. I can assemble it in less than 60 seconds, probably 30 if I really wanted to ( insert bolt action into the stock, insert barrel and tighten two screws, insert magazine, attach QD scope, chamber a round). It has never migrated on me. Took it to Alaska, completely disassembled for a bear hunt. Reassembled it and then shot it before going into the filled. Dead on, no adjustments. It’s mind boggling to be honest. I was not a believer until I bought one. It’s chambered in 375 H&H and will give your a shoulder a good work over. But I can assemble and disable without much fanfare and shoot .7” groups at 100yds, my best to date. Not bad for a big boy caliber I think.

Have a look at Dark Mountain’s Stowaway rifle in 5.7x28. That’s more in line with what I was thinking about minimalist take down rifles.

I've been thinking about getting a takedown 10/22, seems like a hard to beat option for a survival type gun that could serve other roles too. How is the accuracy on those?
