I was having a conversation today with a buddy who thought he would like to try a binary trigger for hunting hogs. I have shot binary triggers on several occasions in another buddy's gun, but have not hunted with one. Off the top of my head, I don't know of anyone who uses a binary trigger for hunting, hogs or otherwise. So just curious, if you own a binary trigger, have you used it for hunting and if so, how often? Were you happy with the results?

Does this mean all my triggers are "non-binary?" They all seemed straight to me. crying

Yeah, that's a serious accident waiting to happen. People that are stupid enough to do something like that never have the idea of paying for anything cross their mind. 'Completely foreign concept.

While I've never shot a binary trigger, I have shot thousands of rounds through full auto in my time in the military. After the first round, you are just suppressing the bad guys. I can totally see someone shooting everything but the pig. I loved shooting the M60, SAW, M240 was fun too but not as fun as the "Pig". Shot full auto M16A1's too. While the M16A2 with burst was supposed to be more controllable, it really wasn't. I see guys trying to be fancy with double taps but can only put one round on a steal E type target at 100 meters. 25 meters, no problem, 50 meters getting pretty questionable, 100 meters forget about it. You have to be a really good shooter with constant practice. Very few people put enough rounds down range on weekly basis to fall into that group.

You can't fix stupid. I'm guessing that you have a vacancy on your lease now?

Like UncleBubba said... you can't fix stupid. I did shoot a binary trigger a few years ago. I was very impressed with how much control was available (unlike full auto, bump stocks or the like). Never thought about owning one. Too expensive and too much hassle. But I will suggest that a "grown up" with practiced skill could use one to good effect on not too distant shots on hogs. Putting 2 holes in a feral hog is always better than one if they go where they belong. Personally I prefer a good 2 stage trigger and acting like a grown up.

"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

One shot, one deer. Two shots, maybe one deer. Three shots, no deer.

I can tell when I'm gonna find a dead deer that died a slow death on my place from the sounds of one neighbor's shots, unless he's throwing his pointed sticks at them. A recent friendly encounter with a dog handler confirmed that it's even worse than I imagined. mad

My wife has a binary trigger on one of her AR's, she only uses it for for just fun shooting.

I can't imagine using one for hunting, that seems kind of silly.

Again, JMHO.

Double tap made easy. I take it the true value comes not from getting off as many shots as possible but the ability to wait until recovery from the first shot before releasing the trigger for a quicker follow up.

They were helpful while shooting out of the helicopter when accuracy by volume was a thing for us smile

We just used either an M60 or M134, volume load was great.

I don’t know of any hunter that has used any form of a binary trigger and I know for a fact that some people love the idea when it comes to hunting hogs. The follow-up shot is handy, though if you are not familiar with such triggers it may take a while to get accustomed. Still, I’d like to read more from those who have actually applied it in the field though!
