Looking for freezer filler. What combination of price, quantity (mass), and taste do hunters here in Texas prefer? Thinking of trying something new.

Have done red hinds before. Recently finished off an eland. Have whitetail in freezer up north.

Prefer to avoid elk & bison and other extremely lean game.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Axis meat is basically unbeatable. Blackbuck is great just the animals are small.

A broke horned Oryx is my preferred freezer filler

Yes and the broke horn is easily fixed by a good taxidermist

nilgai, wildebeest and eland are my go to for filling a freezer for quality but the last 2 are little pricey

I have not tried everything, but Axis meat has been my favorite by far. Axis fajitas are amazing.

Axis gets my vote here. Nilgai is great, but very lean. Haven’t tried Oryx, but it is on my to-do list.

Axis is fantastic and high on my list as well, but the OP said avoid "extremely lean meat". Given all conditions being equal, Axis is very lean (1.4gr / 100gr meat) compared to others mentioned here (per 100gr, is at Bison 8.5+gr fat, elk @ 1.45gr, WTD @ 2.4, nilgai @ 2.1gr, oryx @ 2gr).

Given all that.... I'll take Axis.
