Hopefully (because this season has taught me about how plans can go) some bird and/or squirrel hunting here and in NM before season's out, California blacktail in July and axis sometime in the summer. Will put in for elk in CO and possibly NM as well as moose in ME. Not likely to draw though.

Don't have a hunt one booked yet for 2025.

Have some good points in Wyoming for Deer and Antelope so I may burn those up to try and draw.

Probably will go shoot some Pheasant, Chukar and Quail on a preserve in the next month

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Zip, zero, nada. I have some WY elk points; 'young friend is supposed to be arranging a hunt with an outfitter, but I don't know if we're still on that plan. I buy a point each year when he tells me to.

I'm still looking for that dream mule deer lease!

Nothing planned. I need to start bird hunting again. Maybe I’ll look in to that.

It finally got cold enough here to kick off trapping and varmint calling time. If it wasn’t raining I’d be doing it right now.

I can’t draw a NM elk tag to save my life but have drawn 2/3 of the sheep tags… out of NR pool none the less. Keep the faith

That’s impressive.

I keep putting in. One of these days.

25-26' is going to be a planning year for me. Headed to two conventions to look for hunt opportunities, none of which I expect will have openings til 27-29' for what I am after. So....I'll be playing the "tag....you're not it" game along with the rest of you and have OTC in Colorado as my back up when it all goes to flush like it typically does.

Have some Wyoming pronghorn points, but will most likely just buy another this year. Too many irons in the fire to take a week off to hunt there this year. Hoping next year will be a little slower so we can go. It’s my favorite hunt. Will do my usual Oklahoma muzzleloader camp this year.

In 2025, the She-Wolf and I will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of our first African trip by making a trip back to Zimbabwe to hunt the Humani Ranch (the keystone of the Save Valley Conservancy project) with Guy Whittall. I'm looking to do a "trophy hunt in reverse": I'm looking for an OLD soldier of a buffalo bull...smooth bosses, broken horns...a real "scrum cap" of a dagga boy. With my luck, we'll stumble upon a 50" behemoth while doing so. That'll test my resolve! Kudu, eland, nyala and impala (and likely others) will be targets of opportunity.

Possibly the best part of this trip is that we'll be accompanied by another couple who (while very experienced hunters) haven't seen Africa before...so we'll get to experience another "first safari" through their eyes!

Now that’s a trip.

Plains game in South Africa in July of '26. Plan to talk to the outfitter and PH at the SCI convention in Nashville in a couple of weeks and firm up some details. This will be my first trip to Africa.

Archery elk September in MT provided we draw. Statistically, this should be the year.

Planning year for me as well... return trip to Africa '27 and building Elk points. Will make many trips to WT lease and hogs until next season. Probably make a spring turkey hunt which really is a fill the feeders trip.
May do some Cabo fishing on one of our trips down this year when we are taking friends.
