We have a DHL setup with Brightspeed and get their max of 10 MBS. It’s borderline acceptable, but barely. They have irritated me once more, and now I’m wondering if I need to go with Starlink. Those of you that have gone with Starlink, I’d sure like to hear what you like about it, what you don’t like about, and what your monthly bill is. And what download speed you can get, and what their customer service quality is. Any and all feedback will be appreciated. And will bad weather cut off your service?

Bill is 120/month flat rate.
Speeds are fair to good with no delays to speak of. Can watch whatever on multiple devices with no issues. There’s no gaming in this house or anything so can’t speak to that.
Heavy thunderstorms (tornado -like weather) it will drop but in my experience it’s been 2 min or less.
Haven’t had to deal with customer service so no idea. It’s been very reliable thus far.

I had Starlink a couple of years ago and it was spotty for me and they kept raising the price. I think is about $120/month now. I ended up canceling it and trading the equipment to my brother for a few hundred feet of 2 3/8 pipe. Others have stated its awesome and I am sure for a lot of people it is. Just wasn't a good fit where I live. I switched to Wise Wireless, which is a point to point service which works well for us and is about $80/ month. Our speeds average 70Mbps (Not many options where I live) I can easily work from home with no issues. Can stream 4 TV's with 4K with no problem.

We've had SL for over 2 years and it's the best. Sitting in snow storm typing this with no issues.
Monthly bill is $120.00 unlimited usage. I don't know speeds but my son who is a computer guy said it's just as fast as being in Dallas.
We paid $600.00 for equipment but I guess now you can pick it up at Home Depot for $300.00.
Setup is via an app on your phone an EZ to do.
We live in the sticks and no issues over the last 2 years.
Get it you won't be sorry.
If you do any RVing take it with you you'll just need AC power and that's it.
Equipment is the dish, router & 75' cable.
For me there is no going back.

Starlink is the fourth satellite internet provider we have had. And it has been the fastest and most reliable one by far.

My wife is still working from home. She's on the internet all day. And she has no complaints. And this is a woman with a lack of patience problem.

My parents have it and have used the term game changer as a description. They used to have satellite TV and are now streaming everything. So they were able to make up some of the cost of the total monthly bill by eliminating the sat TV.

Angus, where and how is the equipment set up? Roof? Yard? We probably won’t take it RVing.

We got Starlink at the Ranch Mid Summer. We have previously had mofi, Hughes net, and some other one. They all sucked. Here's my biggest complaint with Starlink. __________________

Nothing. No complaints. Easy to install, Easy to set up. Fast and reliable. We are getting speeds in the 80-120 range regularly. Have not experienced an outage yet, but then again, I am no there 100% of the time. When I am there, I do work from there, so I have given it a workout.

Starlink will get you 10Mbs on the worst of days, I've had it a few years now and the current speeds are great. Occasionally there's a blip between satellites but nothing bad. VOIP may be affected more than other services since it does not tolerate packet loss, web surfing and streaming will reassemble packets, VOIP can't.

I use roam/RV. Two plans: unlimited I think is $150 and limited $50.
Only time I have lost service (CO and NM mountains, Okla, Texas coast, etc) was wind blew over the dish… 50mph guests. Straightened it back up added a few rocks and was golden.

I use my for WiFi calling and teams the majority of the time

I have my "dish" permanently mounted to a pole. I don't know what to call it, because it's not a dish. It's just a flat rectangle.

It's perfect. We have it at the lease where we have no cell coverage so enable WI-FI calling and it's all good. Last trip I got a call from Kuwait and held a teams meeting with my team in Titchfield and had all my systems and tools. Set up is just plug and go.

Will not work in a forest of trees, it needs a wide open view of the sky to work correctly. I had to mount on the roof. Will fade out in heavy lightening storms. Otherwise flawless but expensive. Only had it a year until fiber arrived for almost half the cost.

My WiFi signal is about 60yards in any direction, and it sits in my container cabin. Which means 3/4 of my deer lease uses it.

You place the receiver where it has a clear view if the sky. Use their app to set up and set the direction of the receiver. You may need additional brackets depending on your location of the receiver. Speeds are good but it is expensive. Residential is $120/mo. Look for deals on the equipment. HD was running a sale when I got ours and it was $299. I think I spent another $50 for a pole bracket and pole. the brackets are proprietary so you pretty much have to go with their stuff. I had to call customer service once and they were responsive. It wasn't a major problem so not very helpful on that front.

Had it sitting front yard for awhile then electrician friend sent his guys up to mount to the roof and run cable to router.
Don't buy any roof mount bracket/gadgets just lag bolts with silicone in holes to the roof using provided satellite bracket.

More questions. What direction does the Starlink ‘dish’ have to face? West, East and South have no trees in the way if the ‘dish’ is mounted on the roof. . Northwest has the trees. If the direction is primarily up, that should be fine. And, the router I have is a rental from Brightspeed, so it’ll have to go back. Does the Starlink equipment come with their router?

It self guides its self. The biggest thing. If there is an issue you can just use your phone app to find obstructions

You're asking for roof leaks.

Ours is mounted to the fascia for that reason.

Plug it in and it rotates and finds itself. As mentioned must have clear view of southern skys.

I got an old dish mount. Bought a 3d printed adapter from Amazon for $20. Made a template out of cardboard and cut a 2x8 for a mounting board. Painted it, lag bolted board and dish mount across ridge. It sticks a couple feet above roof and holds up fine. Ran cable down the wall, into the attic and fished it down interior wall. Little silicone and a universal faceplate. Looks good. Ive got a buddy that just parked his in the yard on the mount that comes with it. It works.

I mounted mine on the 2nd story fireplace chimney, it's mount is straight up and then it tracks satellites on it's own.
