Had a great couple of days in Lubbock hunting with Dust Devil Outfitters.... Cold was an understatement... Birds worked ok for a blue bird day with no wind. Had a great laugh at a couple of guys that thought they were gonna take down this birds with 20 gauge head shots... They had never been crane hunting and thought it was easy. They learned a big lesson after the first 2 groups came in.

Time is not wasted if you spend it with the ones you love.

That's a ton of fun. Like shooting pterodactyls.

I used #2 tungsten, 3 1/2" shells, full choke. BOOM!!!

My son killed many a crane with a 20GA before I moved him up to a 12, but yes, bigger always better.

We were just up there again the weekend before Christmas with Crooked Wing Outfitters. Great hunt on the second day when we had some wind. You're right, no wind makes it rough.

They are definitely one of the most fun birds to hunt when they do it right! 20 gauge in the decoys you won't have a problem. Its when they hang up and don't commit.
