As I was on the phone on terminal ignore this morning, I reached for a list of phone numbers that I’ve been keeping for years. It’s mostly people I don’t talk to much, but will need to from time to time. I keep it in pencil, and the list must be 20 years old. Today I needed a number that I probably haven’t called since last year. As I went down the list, I found phone numbers of friends that have passed away in the last 6 months or so. It was sad to erase their names and numbers. One was a great fellow I used to work with. He was a happy, positive, and funny guy. Another was a girl cousin. Good looking hard charging triathlete that just dropped dead at 50ish. You never know when your number is gonna get called.

It's a strange feeling to edit my contact list to remove the "no longer here" folks. I had a hard time removing my best friend's number from my list.

I have a few that I have not deleted. I get a reminder of them as I am scrolling through.

I have quite a few numbers in my phone of friends and relatives who have passed on. I figure they're not hurting anything so I just leave them.

I have a couple family members and some friends in my contacts that have passed away that I cannot delete from my phone, not sure why…I’m sure there’s a psychological explanation

After Susan was murdered it took me a while to delete her from my phone. Everyone is different but it did me some good to delete her number. Every time I scrolled through my contacts I would see her name and it would make me think about reading her medical examiner report. I should have never read that.

I have never deleted a contact so out of the 809 contacts in my phone, likely 30 are dead.
Pass the gravy.

I got a call a while back from a dead friend. It was pretty freaky answering, then it turned out to be a robocall and they were spoofing that number. I've also received a robocall from my own number.

I still have a text thread on my phone with my friend and mentor that passed away two years ago. Miss him dearly; I will let the thread disappear on its own or when I get a new phone; maybe it will live in perpetuity in 'the cloud'. Who knows?
What I do know is that I'm not going to erase something that could bring back a memory of a friend.

Nice to see I'm not alone...not sure why, I just don't or won't do it. Saying that, I rarely delete someone once they make it into my phone book...if for no other reason, I'll know who is or has called.

Well, I needed the space for live folks. And, these were people I rarely ever called. The number for Mom and Dad have not been erased. Can’t do it.
Back years ago I kept a small box with the business cards of deceased contacts. The box got full, so I discarded it.

I still keep some old voice mails. Will give a listen sometimes. Nice to hear Ed putting a meet together at the ranch. Been gone for a long time.

I went through my phone recently. Names there that I didn’t recognize. One Doctor that has been dead for several years. Business contacts and clients that I had prior to retiring. Deleted some.

I recently lost my sister and my BIL, her husband. I talked to them frequently, everyday as I drove home I called my sister. I finally had to delete her number, and his, because I would absent mindedly call her. While I was at it, I also deleted several others I had lost through the last 30 years. It's hard getting old.

I don't have any dead in my phone, but I did realize recently when a birthday notice came up that I had a half dozen dead facebook friends. All had been real life friends too. More than one person had posted a happy birthday on their timeline too. I bet that happens a lot.

What I do know is that I'm not going to erase something that could bring back a memory of a friend. I do not erase texts or emails. Guess there's some conversations somewhere with deads but I think the phone might delete conversations after a certain amount of time if not added to. Nice to see I'm not alone...not sure why, I just don't or won't do it. Saying that, I rarely delete someone once they make it into my phone book...if for no other reason, I'll know who is or has called. Same.

I dont delete any contacts including people who have passed.
I also save every voicemail I still had on my phone from my dad. Even the mundane ones, it is sometimes good to hear the sound of his voice and I dont think I have any other recordings.

Not like I will be getting a call from them, or I would be shocked at least! I even have some family members numbers that are still kicking that I could delete and I wouldn't think twice. Not real stuck on the thought I guess. Mom passed away long before voice mail and not sure I would have kept that.
