Kids gifted me a Browning X-bolt SPR MAX in 7mmPRC. I have just had shoulder surgery and looking to tame down the recoil before I shoot it. Anything to look for?

AB Raptor 8 suppressor, if not an option

I really like the Hellfire Match. After buying one I replaced Hellfire and Sidewinder with the Match. Compared to others I’ve used it not only significantly reduces recoil, but virtually eliminates muzzle rise. It is loud, they are ALL loud. You can install it yourself assuming your rifle is threaded already.

I second this if you're going to put a suppressor on. Top notch brake!

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

If recoil is your soul objective the APA bastard Series is one of top at recoil reduction but they are very sloped (20’s) , and you feel the blow back. Best of both worlds in my opinion is 50-60 degree blast angle mark. Since switching to AB can only time I’ll use a break again is if I’m in Canada

I hate to be the fly in the ointment but do you know how much recoil you can handle without damaging the surgeons work? I've seen enough shoulder surgeries fail. Do you want to risk increasing the odds of failure? A brake is good. For your shoulder the bigger and louder the better. Cans work but not as well for the shoulder. It's your call but no matter what you do that PRC is not going to kick like a 22 LR. How much is too much? I'm just suggesting you err on the side of protecting your shoulder.

"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

I have 7 APA Gen 2 brakes. Use the Fat Bastard on 14lb 7mag with 26" barrel, recoil seems less than a 223.
Four Lil Bastards and two Chodes on everything else. They have a sale going on now. All of min are blems
that may have small machining marks on the timing nut, some i can't see anything.

I have three APA brakes, one Micro and two Little. If I need another brake it'll be the same.

My botnet is bigger than yours.

Have an APA Little Bastard Gen 2 on my .338 Win Mag. It is a pussycat, even off the bench. Would buy the same if I needed another.

300 Norma Mag, 250 gr A-tip, 86.5 gr of powder. APA Fat B*stard and a 20 pound rifle makes it a pleasure to shoot.

Good ear muffs are a must.

Add some weight to the gun. Last thing you want to do is screw up your shoulder. Then the loudest muzzle brake you can guy - usually the louder the more recoil they tame. I think my first was an MBM Beast and it was incredible at recoil reduction. With it and some weight added, you didn't even have to shoulder my 6.5CM. Now a 7PRC is going to have to be shouldered one way or another so just do everything you can...or rebarrel to something lighter.

Also look for a good recoil pad. Anyone have experience with the Backstop recoil pad? https://backfireshop.com/products/backstop-recoil-pad
