I am surprised at the lack of activity here since the ML season opens tomorrow. if I am being honest its my favorite time to hunt. I am the only front stuffer enthusiast on our place, so I have the run of the joint, and it is the only time during deer season we allow guests so I can bring my best buddy since the 9th grade (we are in our middle 50's, now). Since he is the one who really got me into traditional black powder shooting. There is really no point to this post, just rambling.

I actually saw a guy shooting an old school Hawkins this weekend at the range. First time in years I’ve seen one.

Thought I was going Saturday, but my buddy just informed me he's working. Should I ask for a key to the gate?

Sitting in the blind now with my TC Hawken 54 caliber. 90 grains of Swiss 3F and a 485 gr soft lead bullet in it, about a 75 yard gun as I only have a peep sight . Got the heater running in the blind and a few does in front of me. Bucks only in Wilson county but I would bust a hog .

Our muzzleloader season (Oklahoma) and alternative firearms season (Arkansas) take place in October, before modern gun season. It’s my favorite season, and most of my big bucks have been killed then. Usually try to put a doe or two in the freezer as well.

It puzzles me why folks wait to use their M/L until M/L season when you can start using it in gun season.
