Howdy y'all,
I'm in the market for a 3-15 or 4-16 power optic for my Ruger SFAR. Need help deciding between the Arken EPL-4 4-16x44 and the Vortex Venom 3-15x44. I am quite skeptical of the price point surrounding the Arken option but also don't see the need to spend double the money for an optic with similar capabilities on paper. Have any of y'all had any experience with these two optics?

I don’t BUT I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews on Arken as far as reliable and accurate tracking. By contrast, a lot of negative reviews of the same for Vortex other than their Razor.

I have the Arken epl-4. I can attest to the good glass and tracking. I have no idea about longevity, as I've only had it for about 6 months.

Rudy, I have two (2) of the LH-4 4-16 in mil/ with the VHR reticles. I had an SH-4 previously that was simply too heavy for what I wanted, but the scope was fine. The LH-4s have, for me, great eye relief, clear glass, holds zreo and I like the reticle. I don't use the illumination, but it's available. I agree. Price seems too good to be true for the features, but I'll vouch for mine. Like Unclebubba though, I've only had mine for less than a year, so only one season of practical use under my belt. Take that into consideration.

I have zero experience with anything Vortex, so can't compare them.

Take a hard look at the GPO scope line. https://gpo-usa.com/product-category/hunting/scopes/

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

I can’t complain about Arken except for weight. Edge to edge clarity is great, low light seems better than all sub $1200 FFP scopes I’ve owned, turrets are large, easy to read and very audible “click” when turning.

I just bought an Arken, code Texas plinking will save you up to 25%. It’s a YouTube channel. They had a Christmas sale. Now that season is over I will try it out.
