Ok need some help here, what are you guys running and what to stay away from?
Looking for 4-6 camera system with app on phone to configure and monitor. Looking for reliability, don't want to break the bank and don't need security company to monitor. Thanks,

Blink or similar cameras are real easy to install and setup. I use them at home and office. Two years and counting on the original batteries.

Wired is the only way to go.
You will be dealing with changing batteries all the time, and you can't put battery one in stragetic positions around your home and inside your home.

We looked at a number of different Wi-Fi cameras and decided to go with this system about a year ago. No batteries to replace, solar panel built on top keeps it charged up all the time. I can talk and listen through it if needed. This was the best option for us regarding a Wi-Fi camera. One of the cameras we have about 2 hundred yards away on a Wi-Fi extender and works just fine. We are out in the sticks and also have Starlink. I can control all cameras through my cell phone. It’s very convenient to set these up exactly the way you want just using your phone.

I have a couple of Ring cameras. I have not had any problems. I started out with wired and switched to wireless after the first one needed to be replaced. The batteries last about a month or so on a charge. I know how often it alerts determines battery life. I don't have very high traffic so you might be charging more often. I can see where multiple units might take some time to charge them all. I think they run around $99 ea but maybe they have a package deal. I don't have monitoring.
One camera is on a west wall that is metal and gets full sun. It gets pretty dang hot and the camera has held up pretty well IMO.

We use Ring cameras and have had 0 issues with them. We use the hardwired doorbell camera and the spotlight flood camera's with solar panels and the batteries in them have only gone dead during winter 1 time in 4-5 years. But we have ours fire off every time someone goes by our house so you'd probably never have a problem since you're not on a "busy" road like we are.

We use Ring as well, They are not the best, out of the 4 cameras we have had 2 of them died and Ring CS is horrible, so we just threw them away, also use them for the Alarm and that’s just as bad, 3 smoke detectors have gone nuts and go off all the time, two of our keypads died and they can’t figure it out or wont send new ones. had to remove them from the system and throw them away as well. Maybe we just got bad ones

Eufy and Arlo are good brands. I have Reolink cameras and like others mentioned, you may have issues keeping the batteries charged depending on your setup. I run solar panels on mine and it keeps them charged just fine except for one corner that gets shade from a tree. During the summer there's no issue, but right now with these overcast days I have to deactivate it for a bit to let it catch up.
That said, they are great and pain free to install. I got the Trackmixes and have had them for maybe 2 or 3 years now and will probably only ever replace them with more reolinks. They tilt/pan and have both IR and automatic spotlights. I have them installed cleanly, but visibly. No sense in hiding your cameras unless you just want to be able to watch a thief steal from you in 4k.

Yeah they have been the worst system I have ever had, the Blink cameras we used before were good, but wanted the alarm part too. I will say they battery life is good, once I added solar panels to them, lol

We have blink and I don't pay them an annual subscription to monitor/keep videos in the cloud, I have the onsite "hub" that stores things on a USB drive. Mine are all hardwired and they are slightly better than nothing. It misses stuff but I haven't been able to find out what causes it to miss things.
I would be willing to bet money if I paid them the subscription, all my problems would go away. I just have the "I can subscription myself into bankruptcy mindset" and try to not sign up for the unnecessary stuff. Have I mentioned how software as a service has screwed up so much stuff and cost us money? It's everything anymore...

We have ring and I’m in general very happy with them. Good battery life and user friendly app. I did have one die when it was only two months old though. That’s frustrating.

We have Reolink's as well. They connect back to the DVR that has the POE switch built into it. The app is nice and a 4 camera system with DVR is fairly inexpensive on Amazon. We also picked up one of their 180 degree camera and it works great and can cover a ton of area. It usually run's about $150 on Amazon and can be even cheaper when on sale.

My solar setup only records detected events, which has been useful, but not ideal.

We have Starlink and after a little research I'll have to get the Starlink ethernet adapter to plug into my Starlink router so I can connect my local camera storage device.
Anyone have experience with AOSU built in solar panel on camera system? Just have to make a choice.

I'm not familiar with that brand but our Eufy cameras have built in solar panel on top of camera and so far no camera has ever had less than 90% charge--even with multiple cloudy days. We installed all of them about a year ago. Look at pic^^^^^^ above.
