Alright...seems the last 5 years I have started the new year off paying bills and specifically writing the property tax check.

I find it a great reminder to start the year off stroking that check so you don't forget the government isn't your friend and will not be here to help again this year.

It's a necessary evil and will never go away.

Doesn't make it any easier to "pay up suka".

Mortgage company pays mine. I never notice it till they raise my mortgage payment

Which should be criminal! 10%-20% total should be more than enough! Government at all levels is involved in much more of our lives than they should be allowed!

Funny that is what you take from my post...but to answer, I personally don't need the first two. The rest of them are paid via other means...I pay for my own water and trash. Roads and repair are supposed to come from the tax on gas...that is how they justified the EV special tax.

Have the police and fire (which I am a proponent of both departments, don't take that as me saying they spend money wisely) invoice for their services versus a flat tax...you use them, you pay them.

Water is a utility as is trash pick up, road repair is toll or state $0.20 / gallon and federal gas tax.

But lets get excited about paying for inefficiency and over taxation

I do not have the first four of those, provided by may property tax dollars.

And the last one, they make an "F" every year.

$7500 is what I'm about to pay.

I don’t have those first 4 here either and if I need the county road repaired I just go at night and fix it myself. By the time the SO could get here I will either have won or lost by then.

I'm in the same situation. I told my POS Commissioner I just want a decent all weather road. I will put the fires out, I will kill who needs killing. The M.E. can get here when they get good and ready.

I paid my property taxes early, I think early December or late November!? Want to see strange look ask them why no discount for early pay when they are more than happy to penalize for after due date! Hate taxes just imagine what I would do without the creature comforts they spread some of it out towards. Did quick accounting of what I got to keep out of my years gross from 12/13/23 to 12/31/24 and combined 401K and checking account it was just frog hair over 50%. Guess I'm one of lucky ones that pulled that off so made coughing up property taxes little easier.

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

I’d love to have the old gravel road that the county never kept up with that we had 30 years ago if it kept my taxes down and all the yuppies away

Amen! It's getting worse instead of better, hopefully the next 4 years ratchets that back some.

Water is a co-op paid every month
Trash is a private company paid every month
Road and repairs in my hood is split between the other 36 home owners.

We only pay for Sheriffs and Fire through our taxes
