Just a reminder.

Once season is over, keep filling your corn feeders and protein feeders as well as cotton seed. This is the time of year when natural foods in the pasture all just about gone. The deer need supplemental feeding to get out of late winter until in greens up in the spring. This will help the bucks tremendously in antler development in the spring and summer. I know it can be expensive, but spend what you can afford to help out your deer herd.

Yep I feed year round on 2 feeders. One is 200 yards behind the house so we can see and enjoy them. The other is at the north end of the place.
I take care of them in the winter.

In Dr. Kroll's book he says, August and February are the hardest months on the deer, as their natural food is gone.

I’ll turn the corn feeders down and bring in a load of protein.

Really need to shoot a few more does to get some mouths off since I’m the only one around who believes in shooting does

They are hammering cottonseed as fast as I can dump it. Feeders go year round, added water this year so I’ll need to top off the stations as well. They should be happier in 2025.

I'm bringing a couple of kids in on my place the 10th-12th to kill does for youth season. If you have friends with kids, this might be a good way to trim down the doe population.

Son was supposed to bring a few of his buddies up. That never happened.

I feed year 'round in addition to planting fall food plots that typically last until February (or even longer).

I live on my property....so this is easy for me to do. Those with leases (especially those hours away) may find it challenging.

But, yes....excellent reminder. up

Throwing out feed for the wildlife and the fish is a daily activity for me. They are a bit spoiled but sure are healthy. Plenty of bright green oats are all over my ranch in small plots.

nts, you are right...feeding year around is what I do, but at a less amount. This keeps the deer on a diet that supplements the deer for a more healthy herd at some level. The pay off for the hunter is the deer get used to being around the hunter. Not everyone can do this but if ya can it is worth the effort. I learned this while counting deer as the deer look forward to being fed by me and are slightly more friendly. This can bring more deer in your area in the off season. This is no substitute for planting areas in oats or beans but it is something better than nothing.
