What have y'all noticed in Texas when it comes to hunting incoming cold fronts? Do y'all notice more birds ahead of the front or post front? Obviously can't get birds when you're laying in bed, but was having a debate with a coworker and he's siding with seeing a lot more birds post front. I'm indifferent about it saying I've noticed both.

Birds like to ride a nice gentle north wind, that type of wind is normally after a front hits. Birds are not going to fight a south head wind just to stay ahead of a front.

I can't say I've ever seen an influx of birds right before the front. I have seen them right when the front hits and as the front is passing through.

Now later in the season, I have seen an influx of birds that I am almost certain are starting to head back north and get stalled on a north wind.

Our birds leave for you all with every front. We might get a few new ones in but mostly they take off for the South.
You should see more this week, we're cold right now with more snow coming Saturday.

Can confirm, <0 new ducks moving around today “in front of the front”. Saw 2 ducks within 5 square miles, shot 1 of them today.

We got 15 between 4 people Saturday morning. Would have limited out, but we were passing on the diver ducks. It was hilarious watching the birds try to land with the massive south wind. Had wind gusts between 30-40mph Saturday morning and we had a couple groups of wigeon/gadwal literally give up trying to get into the hole. They would try 2-3 times and the wind would push them so far back they'd just fly off. Sunday morning we didn't get a bird.

I've noticed that the birds seem to be the thickest the two days before the front and for a few days after the front hits. This year had been extremely slow until this last weekend. This last weekend, the birds were extremely thick right before this current cold front.
