Has anyone loaded some of the lighter bullets in the 70-80 grain range 3800+ fps for coyote hunting? Fur friendly is definitely not what I’m looking for, I want it to look like an ad for ACME dynamite. I also thought about the 100gn speer varmint hollow poin

Not in that, but light bullets are fun. I got a 110 vmax running 3475 out of a 30-06. Did surprisingly well on pigs… and coyotes didn’t fare well either.

Loaded 90 grain hp’s in my 270 to 3450 fps shot a jackrabbit some javalina. They were messy!

A friend hunts a 257 wby with I think 85 grain nbt’s pretty scorching fast. I imagine they would make coyote soup as well.

I handload Barnes tipped x bullets 85 gr over IMR 7828 ssc for my Ruger #1 . Man it knocks em down like lightning. Word of advice is only shoot deer at least 150 yards out or all that velocity will " jelly" the meat at impact area. That 257 WM really gets em a flyin.

You can still find 80gr ttsx(3850 in my rifle) loaded by weatherby if you look, it’s pretty impressive MPBR

I just ran some numbers, it does have a pretty good MPBR out to 350yds

Ballistics similar to my old 220. Sighted in for 200 yards, the drops are 5”, 15” and 35”. Of course, my bullet was only 55 gr, at 3800ish fps. Way back when, a buddy had a 257 Wby and absolutely thought it was the greatest.

Haven't started working on the load just yet but I'm going to play with some of the 90gr Hammer's.

The stone hammers look like they would be devastating on a coyote!

Had a friend that built a 22-257wby because there was a better selection of bullets for .22 at the time and he wanted fast. He got it. If I remember right he was pushing around 4300fps with a 78g bullet. He had to slow it down with the lighter jacket varmint bullets, 4300ish was the answer

Lots of good 22 bullets from 77-95grs

During my Mexico years one of the first thing we did when we leased a ranch was declare war on coyotes, shot lots of them with a 257 wby loaded with 85grain hollow points lost of red mist involved, talk about coming to a call they had no idea it was really unfair
