My son gives me a hard time about the number of vices I have. The first one is a Chase Parker that supposedly came out of the WWII ship yards. The rest are cheep ones.

Unknown post leg vise. The vise and the table it's connected to weigh 1000 pounds. 1" thick plate steel top. I call this vise and table combo "The Marine Corps". When it absolutely has to be destroyed. Go to this table and vise.




3" Wilton Bullet Vise, on the under construction new mobile welding rig. Gave the ole girl a fresh coat of paint. The mount it's hooked to can slide around on the 2" square it's sitting on. One set bolt, that's sharpened to lock it down.

Can't go wrong with Wilton! Can be pricey but they are good. My other vices happen to do with females of low standards. Hey I'm old...I got to aim low at this point!

I know of a Fire Station that's had the same Wilton Bullet Vise for 52 years. And Firemen can tear up an anvil with a loaf of bread.

Well, you have an idea of how we operate, so I believe you.

What does ours in is the amount of leverage we put on them. Toss in a couple 36’s and some 8 lb hammers, and limits will be tested. That’s at work, though. In my shop, I’m not working that hard.
