The whole mob is coming here for Christmas. We’ll have 12 people and 6 dogs, and it’ll be a madhouse. That’s all good, but my preparatory alcohol stocks are never right. I get a bunch of beer, but they hit the Vodka. I get vodka and they hit the tequila. Nobody ever hits the Gin or Scotch. So this year I overstocked on about everything (except Gin or Scotch, of course). And there’s already plenty of bourbon and wine. I hope they’ll drink most of it, since Doctor’s orders are for me to quit drinking. I may need to ask the Forum to help ‘dispose’ of some booze.

You must have a younger crowd if the Scotch isn't getting hit. It seems to be more appreciated by the older guys.

That brings up a question. The Scotch I have was a gift from a guy that was a pilot for a small company, and when they closed the business, he had a huge supply of various alcohols. Gave a bunch to me, and the scotch is all that hasn’t been consumed. It’s Chivas, and must be 40 years old, plus how long it was aged. I wonder if it’s still drinkable.

I’ve never been a Scotch drinker, though I have had some Famous Grouse (in an English Pub) that I thought was pretty good.

We keep a little of everything (and a lot of whisky) on hand.

So I guess aged in a bottle isn't the same as aged in a barrel? In other words, it doesn't get better after it's bottled?

Although I don't have a full bottle of gin, I'm hoping my mother-in-law with either have a couple of G&Ts, or else a lot of champagne. She's a lot more tolerable that way.

Other than the normal stuff we have, I like to pick up a bottle of this for Yuletide libation.

That is one dirty martini! What did you do, show it a picture of a bottle of vermouth?

No drinking for me this holiday, but as of late it’s been Redbreast 12 and ice.

Pretty heavy pour of olive juice.

Well, it’s over, and brother they drank everything but the aftershave. All the Tequila, almost all of the vodka, all my Bloody Mary fixings, and around 80 to 100 beers (Dos Equis and Modelo, and nobody touched the few cans of Coors Lite I had). And all the red and white wine, and the wine they brought. Whew! They left my Bourbon alone. I’m closing the gate tomorrow, after they leave, and taking a long nap.

Merry Christmas…I hope you had a great one.

Went to our local distillery (Sledge) and had a couple of old fashioned's and picked up a quart of their pecan sippin' sauce. It's basically egg nog with out the egg, just the nog.

Dang 603; I hate to hear about being forced to quit the libations. Have you considered a second and/or third opinion from other more knowledgeable Docs?

Dave, I will on occasion have a small spot of whisky or a glass of wine, so I’m not totally dry. The next blood test will tell me more about do’s and dont’s regarding alcohol. Luckily, I don’t have any sort of craving to drink. On hot summer days though it’s gonna be hard to not have a beer, so I’ll have a beer.

I’m pretty well off of it. I like fruit brandy and wife got to bitching about me turning into an alcoholic. I was going through a bunch of it. Decided to take a break from it. No problem.

One thing that surprises me is no beer. I have 2 refrigerators at home and one in the country. All with Budweiser that I have t touched in over a year.
