Are you referring to translators?
Apple iPhone has a translator including voice that works ok. There is also a Google app.
Or something where you type in Spanish and it says it in Spanish?

I don’t know about Spanish, it’s not a challenge.
But, I recently used Persian to communicate. Just went to google translate, entered it and translated it and sent. When received just translated back. It did give option of reading it in English from Persian. If that helps.

Going to the old country Then I take it you are going to Spain. Tell us what you are trying to accomplish. I’m a fluent speaker of Spanish, presentations, business meetings, negotiations etc with most experience being in Latin America. Never had a problem communicating in Spain. Being fluent in Portuguese helped with the Gallego in Galicia. If you are going to Barcelona or the Basque regions then you are better off sticking to English.
