Is it just me or is NASA just burning $? Did they learn enough from this little experiment to justify the cost?

I personally think their budget should be doubled or tripled. We’re talking about the exploration of humanity. Just look where we were 200 years ago. We were using horse and carriage and a mere 200 years later we have self driving cars and have landed on the moon. I’d say with in the next 100 years or so we’ll be a space faring people and America needs to be on the cutting edge of the technology involved. Exploration costs money, I’d much rather us use it at home instead of sending billions upon billions abroad to other countries.

Remember when they claimed to put a man on the moon then "forgot" how to do it. bolt

Agree. It's not about reaching the end goal but all the technical advances and discoveries that are made to get the there. There's no better example than the mission to put a man on the moon. Very little if anything was learned from the rocks the astronauts brought back. However, the creation of small, integrated circuits created a path for most of the electronics we still enjoy today.
