I’m wanting to get back into pistol hunting, I normally use a 460XVR but it can’t be suppressed, so I’m looking for another pistol that can. The easy an obvious choice is the T/C pistols, and there’s a wide variety of caliber options. I really something sub 10 inch barrel that’s good pit to 200 yards on pigs and deer.

I could just get one barreled in 460XVR, as I already have a load developed for in out of an 8 3/4 barrel and a suppressor to go with it, but not sure it’s a competent 200 yard gun. I’ve shot it to 150 but farthest I’ve killed anything is around 120.

Maybe a 7-08 or 308 or???

7-08 with a faster than typical powder burn rate, and a 140 gr bullet.

Weishun said the 30-06 was his favorite in the encore pistols

You will have to use the Encore frame for the calibers you are mentioning. The Contender will not handle the pressures of the 460 either. I have Encore barrels in 204, 243, 7mm-08, 308, 30-06 and 454 Casull. If you find a frame and need a barrel, let me know as I might sell one of mine.

If you’re talking about a contender I've had really good luck with both the 6mm tcu aka 6x45, as well as the 7 tcu. They used to be my go to for dropping a couple doe every year.

I used to have on in 35 Remington. If I remember correctly it was listed as good to around 150 yards.
What ever you get, good luck and enjoy.

300 Blk on Contender frame. Supers will get you to 200 yards. Subs will as well once you figure the drop for your load.

I just bought a cva scout in 6.5 grendel a few months ago. The gun is accurate and has a threaded barrel. I did put a weaver handgun scope and has held up so far. You could rig up a couple of those for the price of 1 contender.

I’ve thought about a 16 inch barrel 6.5G in that CVA. Would be a sweet little package

I was very fond of the 30 herrett when brush hunting with a T/C. Easy to load for.

If you want to barrel that short I would look at something like a 358 Winchester or a 338 Federal. Something with a little bit bigger bore so that you get a little more complete burn. Either of those are going to be a little bit better with that short of a barrel then the smaller bore guns like a 308 or a 708.

Or just go with something like a 7:30 Waters or 7 TCU that doesn't have that much powder that you're not going to burn up anyway.

I’m researching everything that has been posted. Some of them I’m not familiar with, so I e got some leaning to do.

I bought a CVA Scout in 6.5 Grendel about a month ago, they were on sale for 389.99 on Gunbroker. When I first got it, the thing was covered in grease including the bore. I disassembled and cleaned it, scrubbed the bore. You can see by the patches how nasty it was. Mounted a scope on it and have brass on the way. Quickload recommends that short barrel needs a powder such as IMR 3031 for a complete burn.

I’ve still got a brand new Contender in 7-30 Waters that I haven’t put a scope on or fired yet, but I will by next year. up Otta be a great buggy gun.

Have a 7-30 and a 375jdj barrel for mine with the 7-30 being my favorite, very accurate with 120 BTs and a deer killing machine.BUT I found out the hard way you do not fire it with the muzzle brake inside the stand without ear protection and your wife in the stand with you (we were not intimate for a month) lol

Don't know where I'm goin but I'm makin good time
