They’re offering just the action as well as barreled actions. I think that’s pretty smart. They make solid rifles, and now you don’t have to buy the entire package if you want a different stock or barrel. And I’m sure their actions are a good bit less expensive than a custom action like Stiller. Probably not as good, either, but I’ll bet the practical difference is minimal. If I were going to do a semi-custom budget build, I wouldn’t hesitate to go this route.

You don’t have to spend that much, but I understand the point you’re making. The point I’m making is that this gives you more options without paying for parts you aren’t going to use.

For that price, I’d still rather rebarrel a Tikka. Assuming it’s a short action cartridge.

Several custom actions out there for that price or less or for a few dollars more. They should be in the $600-$800 range.
Just look at Areo, they are killing it and have made a damn good action for that price

The Weatherby 307 action retails for $750.00, and are pretty good. I would think the Bergara should be around that price point. Mack Bros makes the same thing at a better price point as well. At the price Bergara is asking they are on level with Defiance and Zermatt entry level offerings, and from my experience with the three, Bergara is not to that level on quality. The real bargain on actions is gone now, the Coup De Grace was a steal at its introductory price. The Solus action has a few quirks that will keep me from owning one.

Custom actions are $1000-$1500 retail. And they still need a $250 trigger.
