Leaving the farm I messed around at the gate for about 10 minutes before leaving. I noticed something unusual.....no traffic had passed in that time.
I pulled out and headed south when I saw a pilot car who flashed his lights at me. I thought ok, must be a wide load must be coming. I crested a rise and !@#$% this rolling house has the whole 2 lane FM road from white stripe to white stripe filled. I hit the grass doing 60 trying to brake and didn't clear him by much. I'm sure the driver was as scared as I was.
Of course he had traffic backed up behind him but I think they must have closed the road 5 miles in the other direction. Really surprised they would haul something that wide on a narrow FM road.

Glad you're okay.
Old house, or "pre-manufactured?"

Would've left a heck of a mark if you had hit it.

Hey TBAR: Damn good thing that you’re too old to be hauling [censored], lickety split, down the road..

I drove with a friend of mine from Wichita to Tulsa a couple years on a 15’ wide load. The amount of people who ignore a flag vehicle is amazing. I’m not saying that is what you did because that That pilot car should have pulled over in front of you with a flag out the window waving it for you to stop instead of flashing the lights.
We had multiple people ignore that flag when they did this and one older lady came within inches of chopping her body in half on a steel platform. didn’t even hardly look up. I don’t think she actually saw the gazillion flashing light on the truck, the flag car etc.
It is a very easy way to die.
People think the trucker is just off on a Sunday stroll. The state picks the approved route and the driver is at the mercy of people actually paying attention.

Thats the reason for FM road, to move objects that wouldn't be fit for interstate travel, pilot car drivers can be pretty observatant but there are some it just a cushy job and only keep distance and warnings. Remember they had pilot car at rail road crossing in Pecos, see where I'm going with this?
