I have never been blessed with a deer I felt like I should shoulder mount until last week. I am trying to decide between these two poses...Opinions please from those who have done shoulder mounts...

Wide rack looks ok straight on. Narrow rack looks better slightly turned..IMO

I've always like the semi-sneak mounts as they appear relaxed. But a stud standing at attention looks great too. Consider which brings out the best in the antlers, where it will be positioned in a room, ceiling height, etc.

I prefer the lower mount photo. Think it would look great with that fine buck that you plan to mount!

I'm a huge fan of the first one-My best deer is in that pose. But if you feel the space is tight, the second one will look just as good. Looking at the TV pic, the semi-sneak may be the better option as it will give you a little more space around the mount. One option-if you choose the upright, you could look at having both ears in the alert position, which will make his rack appear even wider than with a relaxed/flared ear.

Your not going to go wrong with either, but if I had to choose it would be the semi-sneak pose.

The first option photo. Head up, right turn upright off set. Thinks of it this way, how would he best look if seen in the wild? The sneak pose is interesting but doesn't show off that great rack as well. Here's a similar buck I shot last year and went with what I'm suggesting. Congratulations on your buck.

I read your write up of your hunt. I think you'll be happy with the same pose.

for me it depends on where you are going to hang it. I like the pose to be facing the center of the room it's hung in.

I would consider a pedestal mount - that way if you ever move to another home or move the deer from one room to the other it will fit - I had mine done where the head can be rotated - the pedestal also allows people to see the buck at eye level - just a thought

I don’t think there is a bad way to mount a trophy.

First buck should be straight ahead. Second and third should be facing in towards the first one on either side.

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.
