Santa got me a new Ruger American gen 2 Ranch 300 Black Out, and it came with a 10 round Mag, I like to have a 5 round Mag. Does anyone know of a good 5 round mag?

Can you please let us/me know how the rifle cycles?

I have a gen 1 and they feed like junk on AR mags. BUT i have a grendel. I'd like a new gen 2 in 223 but skeptical about how it cycles from the magazine.

I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I've got one in the shop now, in .223 Rem. It cycles perfectly from the P-Mag Ruger sent with the rifle. I loaded the ammo so that the bullet would clear the end if the mag by .010"

It shoots very good, as well. 77 gr SMK, Trijicon Credo 3-9X Mil 200 Yards

My neighbor just bought a gen2 300BLK last month. He came over to shoot it on our range over Thanksgiving. It cycled fine, but I was not super impressed. The action seemed very stiff to me, but that may be just because it was new and he had not oiled it. bang I should have gone inside and grabbed some oil to see if that changed it, but I didn't.

What ammo were you having problems with? Some of the bigger longer subs you need an actual 300BLK AR mag to cycle correctly. I use the Lancer 300BLK mags just so there is absolutely no way of mistaking mags between my 5.56 an 300, but I believe Magpul makes a 300 specific PMag as well.

On my Rug G2 Grendel I have to cycle hard and fast otherwise there are hangups when trying to run the bolt slow and smooth (like a high end rifle)

Running bolt hard and fast = zero malfunctions in the field (hunting)

I just bought a Gen 2 ranch version in 22ARC. My rifle is the same way it cycles just fine, but you have to cycle it like a man. I figure it will get better over time as it breaks in. The only other complaint or rather minor issue is the bolt lift is pretty hard after firing a round. This too should improve with more rounds.

Overall I'm very pleased with the rifle, it shoots the factory 75eldm about .5 MOA at 100 yards, and the factory 88eldm at around 1 MOA. I've only shot it out to 200 yards so far, but I seem to be getting about 2600-2650fps out of the 88gr eldm in a 16" barrel with 6" can.

For $500-600 I don't think you could find a better value.

And to the OP's question. I'm in the same boat looking for a 5 round 6.5 grendel AR mag for 22ARC.

The one i looked at in store was a 223 and the bolt would hang up on the magazine with no cartridges in it.

That is the AR mag functioning just like it is supposed to.

They cause the bolt to lock open when the mag is empty.

Put a new full mag in, hit the bolt release, and get back to shooting.
