Great job sir !!
That would be a tall task. I know that there are a few random lion sightings but to go into an area knowing that there was a lion in hearing would be rare. My buddy, Pecos Hagler did kill a lion in Wheeler County about a month ago and it was the first documented lion kill ever in that county. With all the sightings and documented kills in Longview, Navasota and other strange locations for lion tells me that the lions are expanding their range. This generally occurs when the population is increasing. Now there is a push by several organizations to initiate procedures to protect the lion. I live by the philosophy "If it ain't broke don't fix it". For this reason, I am working with the Texas Chapters of SCI to do a mountain lion study in South Texas in order to find out just what the lion population is in this region. Also attempting to find out how far and how fast they travel and reproductive rates. I didn't need another "non paying" job but I feel that this one is very important to the landowners and hunters of Texas. Adios, Gary
