I have noticed that the Bucks are getting back into bachelor herds. Where I feed the Ibex there were 7 bucks there this morning and nobody was pissed. The rut must be over early here.

Funny you mention that. I have cam pis from last week with three bucks on a feeder at once. Haven't seen that since early bow season.

Maybe 5 days ago I rode the ATV back on the power line ROW and there were 3 nice bucks standing together. I thought that was odd, and that maybe the rut was winding down. That said, about all I’m seeing on camera is bucks, so somebody is still on the hunt for girls, and neither the bucks nor I know where they went.

Very odd year indeed. Saw younger guys chasing a little this year, but zero evidence of the big guys doing so and I have spent 25+ days in the field these last 8 weeks. Do see some busted up racks so must have been some bad feelings mixed in but do seem to be buds for now.

I rattled in 23 bucks this year starting 2nd week in Nov and going to thanksgiving. I saw older bucks chasing opening weekend, I think rut was early this year. I saw a few younger bucks noise to ground this past week but big bucks are in recovery mode as they seem to be starting to come back to corn and protein or or are locked up on the last of 2nd cycle does. We also have closet ratio we have had that I know of. Essentially we are north concho county

My ratio is probably 2 Bucks to 1 Doe. Maybe they are all finished up. No use going to the bar and see what you can pick up at closing time.

I was seeing full rut activity the last week of October in Edwards county. It’s normally the 3rd week of November when that happens

Strange year.

That said, we did see a good number of bucks, way over what we saw the last 2 years

That’s a very good ratio for hill country, usually the closer the ratio the more prominent the rut is

It was right on time here. Last year it was all over the place.

We killed a pretty solid management buck yesterday morning with 3 other mature bucks.

Most of ours are grouping back up. This warm winter has them messed up. Too much more of this and they may start using pronouns

That odd for this time of year. Maybe they're broke off and not shedding?

Got a picture off the cam this morning with three, 3.5yo+ bucks under the same feeder. Definitely odd for this time of year.
