Looking to the THF brain trust for info on this old belt that came my way. It is well worn and the only maker's marks that I can read are S. D. Meyer El Paso TEX. patent 2.....
It looks to be made for a medium frame revolver like a 4" S&W.

cool rig! "Well worn" is an understatement. I bet some leather experts will be along shortly with some suggestions. Definitely a quality rig.
Maybe strip off the black and start with the original leather, then polish the hardware.

Keep us posted, interesting referb

Then go buy a new Revo to put in it clap

Looks just like the duty leather for a S&W 19 that some of the veteran officers had when I was a rookie.

never paid much attention to gun belts, but how does that work? the buckle hook on the parallel studs on the backside and the single stud goes through the middle hole?

On some the studs were on a round bar that was sewn into the belt on later ones the studs were on a flat bar that was screwed into the belt and was adjustable. That one looked sewn in and after being hooked the keeper loop slides over to lock it in.

The two brass D-rings are for a Sam Brown belt shoulder strap.

That could be a carbon copy of what this was carried in for 28 years: [Linked Image]
Belt and all. He's right about the shoulder strap.

I carried a Colt Trooper MkIII in one 50 years ago. We had the old suicide holsters back then. You had to push a clip inside the trigger guard to release the pistol in order to draw it.

Sam Browne with a Border Patrol style holster. I wore something similar before we transitioned to Glocks.
