Not sure I ever went to the one in Georgetown but I remember exactly where it was. Did spend a lot of time at the Palace.

"Chief Drive In" Austin, TX. Went there many times. Parked 814 cars. Sadly, it closed in 1973. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2024/12/full-56101-439274-chief.jpg)

Summers in Louisiana. Hot and humid at the drive in, even before you made your hopefully at least partially successful move. No AC. Skeeters. Those smelly Pik skeeter repellants you had to light. I sort of miss it, but miss being a flexible teenager more. We looked at a 67 Mustang back seat a couple of years ago and had trouble imagining how we managed to do what we did back in the late sixties/early seventies.

Don’t stay in back seat. I had a lot of fun in a 65 mustang.

Had a '66 Mustang GT in high school. Yeah the back seat was something less than roomy. But where there's a will....there is a way.

Back in the 60's we got our drivers license at age 14 after taking drivers education (which seems insane) - my Dad was the sales manager for the Ford place in our hometown so he got to bring demos home - most of the time they were Mustangs and he would let me drive them - so I would literally be driving a different one on a regular basis - talk about a blast!

Good times. Mine was a midnight blue ‘68 notch back ‘66 Notchback baby blue. Cobalt blue '69 Mach-I here, with the flat black go-fast stripes. 2+2 seating so it had that awkward bump in the middle of the back seat. The last movie I saw at a drive-in was "Cocktail" somewhere in Colorado in her dad's Fiat. That was some tight quarters. The car was pretty small, too.

OP, we still, have one and it's open on Friday and Saturday nights in the spring, simmer and some during the fall. Make a road trip top Graham and I'll provide the steak dinner before.

I’m sure many kids were conceived at a drive in movie. 😀. Hell, I might’ve been.
