Signs you're not as young as you once were ... after the rain last Saturday I hunted a wheat field where we see a lot of pigs. Was a struggle just to walk the 800 yards from truck to blind in ankle deep mud.

At 5:30 a 4-5 year old shooter 10 pt ran out into the wheat and started feeding at 150 yards. I looked at the mud to the top of my boots, looked at my truck half a mile away with no way to get it any closer ... decided he needs another year.

I`m not as mad at them as I use to be either. Quality over quantity.

I would never had seen that deer for thats 800 yards further than these bones would have traveled in the first place.

He could get a vehicle to the deer and back to camp.

But I would wait too. My 72 year old buddy and I took 2 days to gut skin and quarter my deer.

I'm still of the mindset, kill it. We'll figure out how to get it after we take the pic's. I recently told one of our hunters that had this legitimate concern that in enough pieces, we can get any deer out of any place.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I’ve got it made. A young couple, nice boy and girl, 21 yoa, have been hunting and honeymooning at my place for years. They find out about any problem the old guy (82 yoa), is having and the problem goes away. I’ve known them since they were in kindergarten with my grandson. They get married next month. They live in an apartment through the week and at my place, about three weekends per month, to get out of the metroplex and into the country. Ride 4wheelers, fish, shoot and hunt. I no longer have to cut and split firewood.

I had a problem with my well, called the well service company, and they came out and screwed it up. Josh, the boy called them, met them there and showed them what they had done wrong.

They spend a lot of time there but always call and ask permission.

I think twice now days before I squeeze one off. Most of the time I hunt with one of my three grandsons who can help take care of what hits the ground. DD you have a good situation going on for both parties. Y'all enjoy the moments. up
