Our military and homeland defense systems are rapidly transitioning to autonomous AI-driven weapons and surveillance systems for both offensive and defensive purposes. Recent drone sightings in New Jersey and other areas are part of ongoing training exercises to advance Command and Control (C2) capabilities for All-Domain Autonomous (ADA2) systems. In simpler terms, this involves developing AI systems to control swarms of autonomous drones and robots across air, land, and sea. These systems include surveillance technologies that collect the data necessary to coordinate these autonomous forces.

Some of the tech, VC, and drone companies I’ve worked with are directly participating in these efforts. Companies like Anduril Industries and Palantir are collaborating with frontier AI leaders such as OpenAI and Anthropic, as highlighted in recent press releases. Additionally, the Defense Innovation Unit is spearheading initiatives with over 30 military contractors and tech companies working on these transformative technologies.

I've mentioned my long history with Peter Thiel. He is deeply involved in shaping this space through companies like Palantir, Anduril, Swarm Aero and others driving the development of autonomous military systems. These innovations are reshaping the military-industrial complex as we know it.

If you’re not following this, you might not realize what’s on the horizon. Be forewarned: stockpiling traditional black guns and ammunition might feel like preparing for the future, but such defenses are designed with flesh and blood in mind - they are virtually powerless against swarms of autonomous fire breathing killer drones equipped with cutting-edge surveillance and weaponry.

What’s Next?
We may soon see reports of drones being intercepted as contractors test counter-drone solutions under projects like Replicator. Electronic and network jamming during these proof-of-concept events could inadvertently disrupt civilian electronics, so keep an eye out for any unusual electronic behavior.

What about the PsyOps?
One concerning aspect of these exercises is the lack of transparency. If the narrative around these sightings is spun as adversarial as was floated yesterday about Iran, it could lead to unnecessary public panic or, worse, geopolitical escalation. I likely won't comment more on this but I'm getting concerned about how this is being played out... To dive deeper, search for information on the specific names and projects mentioned above.

I'm surprised at the coverage this is getting. You'd have to be totally clueless to have not determined that this is or is some variant of what you describe.

My guess it's most likely hobbyists getting their trills by watching the news after adding lightweight frames and lights to drones capable of supporting the added weight.

But it does appear to be a relatively inexpensive payload delivery means for those with more sinister intentions.

I think a person has to have a permit to even own a shotgun in NJ.
