Who’s hunting? Wife and I got to the lease yesterday early afternoon. Hunted yesterday evening and this morning, still in the blind. Only saw 3 does so far. The almost full moon is challenging.

'Sat this morning 'cause SD card showed juvenile pigs taking over the morning feeding for days. They musta seen, heard, or smelled me drive by and park in my hidey-hole. Smart little bastards.

Beautiful clear, quiet morning. A couple does and yearlings and a wide, thin-horned 8. Maybe he'll grow to be something. Wide is rare, for this ranch at least.

Nary a shot was heard.

Full moon is kicking our butt. 4 days and no shooters to be had, heck, 2 days with not 1 deer seen. Heard one far off shot right at daybreak. Getting ready to switch stands for the rest of the day.

Hunted yesterday on a place I have permission to hunt but rarely do.

Saw one 4 year old 8 and 4 does.

Pretty slow day.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Haven’t hunted in the last few days, due to working on that baby cradle. I have that 4 point in the yard a couple of times every day, but that’s about it. The game cameras suggest that nothing wanted corn last night or during the day. I think the acorns are gone now, but that hasn’t pushed them to corn.

Still need rain badly at the ranch. I put out protein that they are hitting. Not that many shooter bucks, but there's a few roaming.

Present. Already had to let a doe out of the pig trap. The welder that I told to duplicate one I already have made them taller. realmad If someone you're ordering something from seems "altered," back out of the deal! bang

About 20 deer (mostly fawns) on road corn. Along with about 175# boar.

I sold my pig traps to Boltguy a few years ago. Caught to many deer in them.

I did see one heck of a buck fight 2 days ago. Lasted 15 minutes. A 9pt and a 10pt. Over the years I've seen several buck fights on the ranch, but this was the best one, or worst, whichever way you want to look at it. To be honest, I didn't like to see it, worried they'd hurt each other bad. I've seen the 10pt since the fight, but not the 9pt.

I need 4 more rooter traps, to have one at each feeder, but I can buy another cell gate for a corral trap for less money than that.

I've never seen a true knock-down-drag-out.

I've only heard 1 shot and it's a still morning. 'Seems odd for the Saturday before Christmas.

Nothing moving at all this morning where I sit. Have not seen a single critter of any variety. Big difference from yesterday when I saw 2 spikes, 5 doe, 2 eight points , a four point, and a 6 point. The duck hunters on lake of the pines started shooting well before legal time but they have slowed way down. I think I’ll give it another 45 min.

Haven’t seen anything in an hour. Think I’ll meander around and head in.

I just got home from a week long hunt in Kinney co, south of 90. Some hunts I had does and young bucks eat corn the whole time. Mature bucks had other things on their mind besides corn. I had a great time!
