Anyone have any experience with them? Picked up a 40V Ryobi, 16" brushless at the Direct Tools Factory Outlet store last week at Tanger Outlet mall in Ft Worth. Comes with 6AH battery, charger. Chainsaw was a factory reconditioned model with 1 year warranty and 40% discount from full retail of $289. Plan to tackle some mesquites on the ranchito and wondering what I should expect performancewise. Assembled the blade and chain yesterday and seemed pretty strong when run.

I have an older Ryobi 40v that the battery goes in from the top and also the newer one the battery slides in the side on the bottom. Both have been great. Plenty of power for a cordless. Older one seems to be better but was limited to 4, 5 or 6ah batteries. They are my go to saws for cleaning out the fence rows or trimming trees. Lightweight and plenty of power. Keep the chain sharp and fairly tight.

I cut 4” and larger cedar limbs all the time with my DeWalt. I cut an ash tree down that was about 12” and it did it but a gas saw would have been a much better idea.

I have a Dewalt that I bought to take down a big tree from a man lift. I had extra chains and batteries ready but never needed them. I was very impressed with the performance. Once I had it down enough to clear all obstacles I took it down with the grown up saw and used it on the trunk. The Dewalt did all the rest of the work and trimmed many other trees that day since the lift was a 24 hour rental with no time clock. I quit before the saw did. Done forget the bar oil, it will run out twice before the battery will.

I have an M18, not sure about the Ryobi but I've read good reviews. I run an 8.0ah battery and I'm usually done before it is but that's mostly trimming or clearing a tree or two. It's certainly no cord wood saw. I get the Stihl out for serious work.

I have the Ryobi 12" and the saw does it's job, but the oiler does not turn OFF! I had to make a box with a plastic liner to catch the slobbery mess. After each use I have to drain the oil and refill when using again. I won't buy Ryobi chainsaw again. Get you an extra battery and with 2 batteries you'll be ready for a break when they run down.
My 2 cents.

I have an 18vt Riobi 12in that has been a workhorse for years cutting 12in round trees with ease. Finally stopped working last week. The 40vt are cheaper than 18vt right now for some reason.

My 2 cents. Yep. I don't think any brand of them doesn't run oil out of it while sitting. I keep mine bar down in a plastic container.

I borrowed a 40 volt Ryobi hedge trimmer from my father in law in around 2017, that thing was beyond impressive. When I got to work the next week, I was telling my manager how great it was and he told me he had the chainsaw and I was welcome to borrow it, I did. About a year later Milwaukee started making one and I purchased it, yes, it leaks oil but man, does it work and work well.
Just for the record I choose Milwaukee because of the durability and quality of their other tools.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

At my friend's place he has a DeWalt battery powered chainsaw and pole saw. They are both quite incredible and have far exceeded my expectations. We can work most of the day with either saw with two batteries per tool per day. That DeWalt pole saw might be the handiest ranch saw I've ever used.

Ridgid 18v 12" - lighter and works well for small stuff.

Yep, mine too. Been real happy with my DeWalt 20V drill/impact. Will probably take the e/saw dive, eventually.

My Echo 58V leaks oil, but if you lay it on its side, it stops. Might give that a try?
I've been very happy with this saw until I ran it hard for about 8 hours in a single day across two batteries. Then it would come on and run for about 15 seconds. But Echo replaced it under warranty and I've had no problems with the new one. They also have changed/upgraded to a new model since then.
I will say this about the electrics I've used; I would not force them to cut. Just let them eat at their pace. Don't bury the dogs and crank down on it.

A good friend of mine, who has more tools than any three men I know, including several Stihl commercial chainsaws. He told me the Milwaukee Fuel chainsaw is legit. He had to clear up to 4" trees for a fence line on one of his ranches. He said that saw did a great job.

I get good use, on small jobs, using the wife’s Stihl battery saw. It hardly leaks bar oil, which surprised me.

Keep it stored with the bar pointed down and no leak at least on my Ryobi. Read that one another site and seems to work. I have a 40volt top handle and an older 18 volt both 12 inch bars. The old 12 has been a cutting beast but oil leak and have to remove links from the chain, their easy chain tension adjust has very limited travel and adjust good for about what stretch you get from just a new chain, start it right stretch from being new then that one adjust and you are out of adjustment travel. The newer saws at least seem to have that fixed.

Only trouble I had with my Ryobi is that the chain was cheap and dulled very quickly. Got a better chain, don't have to resharpen near as often.

I have the 40v Ryobi and I love it. I already had the weedeater, edger attachment, pole saw attachment, etc., so I got the chainsaw to add to the set. My plan was for light stuff around the house, but it's actually a lot more powerful than I thought.

I picked up a Dewalt 20v 12" tool only chainsaw @ Home Depot last month for 89 bucks (black Friday price). I cut some dead oak and mesquite with it this week for my smoker. Very happy with its performance. Reviews on the older models say they leak oil, but mine has been full of oil for 2 weeks and not a drop even after using it for an hour. I bought it strictly for cutting wood for my smoker and light cutting at my deer lease.

My plan was for light stuff around the house, but it's actually a lot more powerful than I thought. Same here, my kids have bought me the 40V blower and then added a few other items. I have a 14" Ryobi chain saw and used it today to cut up a few downed limbs and trim a few that were hanging low on a tree in the backyard. Sure is easier than getting my Husqvarna Rancher 50 out and going. I got to where I deer hunt and there was a decent size tree across the road about half way into our parking spot. All I had was the weed eater and the pole saw. I took out the extension on the pole say and cut up the tree. I did have to cut from both sides due to the short bar length. My hunting buddy showed up just after I finished and asked how I cut the tree up. He couldn't believe the pole saw was that powerful.
