Hi Everyone,
I’m expecting the answer to be “it really just depends on luck and what’s happening” but was curious for hunters that use blinds.
Given multiple blind setups/feeders do you switch between blinds/feeders throughout the day?

I’ve been here since predawn and I’m not going anywhere. That’s the norm for me but not most. There’s lots of reasons to change blinds but I’ve never understand getting out of a blind and then come right back to same one. I understand if you like other people and/or football more than hunting but if serious about killing a big buck then seems better to stay put. YMMV

I have 2 setups, and I will hunt 1 in the morning and the other one in the evenings sometimes. Depends on the wind and what the camera shows. I usually commit to one for a sit and don't switch say after an hour or so.

We too have two blinds. Usually mix it up daily, sit in one in the morning and the other that evening. Will usually switch it up the next day. Mid-day hunts are decided on the fly.

As Old Smuggler posted. Thar tis morning stands & evening stands. My hunts luck plays a role, Hunted a tree stand several hours, nothing. So got down ta check for tracks/droppings & such @ wifes stands, twas archery & gun started the weekend. Seen some fresh sign. Went back ta stand, big white oak, & a big buck right under stand, it turned, moved slowly towards main road threw lease, figured going towards another feeder with few rubs/scrapes. Remembered got a self climbing stand in dodge. Ran got it, went inta woods & found tree ta climb in path of feeder. The deer came inta view, just outa bow range. If would kept going had good shot. But it turned went behind me. Thick trees. No shot 20yrds out. Usualy stay in tree/ground blinds. Luck of the draw. Hope your hunt tis a successful one.

Just depends on what's happening. Sometimes I'll sit in the same blind all day, sometimes, I'll go back to the house and work mid-day, sometimes I'll Work in the morning and sit mid-day until dark. Sometimes I'll change stands depending on wind or where we have been seeing deer and when.

I’ve always stayed in the same blind but this is the first year using cell cams and they’ve totally changed my hunting approach. Not only do I find myself changing blinds but I’ve changed property’s mid day if the cams show a certain deer moving in an area. I swore I’d never use cell cams but after getting our first one this year we now have close to a dozen running so we go where the deer are and it’s paid off with 3 mature bucks so far being taken when we otherwise wouldn’t have hunted those stands with the current wind direction. I know this wasn’t a cell camera thread but they have a lot to do with us changing locations during the day.

In a perfect world, I go to where I believe the animals I want to hunt will be. That might mean staying put all day or multiple blinds within one sit. We run just normal SD cameras and usually have to fill feeders each trip no matter what so I usually have the opportunity to check on the cameras and have an informed idea of where they might be.
An example of that was an early October hunt two years ago. Whitetail were still fully nocturnal due to daytime temps, but pigs were showing up at different times at different feeders very consistently. I killed three hogs out of three different blinds in the span of two hours between 5pm-7pm that evening because I knew there was a strong chance of them showing up at each feeder at each time and I can sneak in and out pretty easily.
Most of the time though there is ranch work I would like to get done and I leave the blind around 10am and return to that or a different blind around 2:30.

I usually switch it up on our place every sit. We have 3 stands.

I have 5 hunting areas on 400 acres, all set up for bow hunting as that is what we predominantly do. I will change stands almost every hunt and very likely the winds change as well to make one stand better than another.
Each area typically has multiple stands to accommodate winds, but i have some that are single stand locations.
I hunted one stand multiple times in a row to shoot a specific buck this year, and my son did the same to get his target buck this year. We have one more we have seen but he has been to multiple areas so it will be a cat and mouse with him. But this year has been an anomaly from that perspective, we usually do NOT have three target bucks to hunt in a single year.

I let the wind tell me which stand to hunt.

I watch them all the time and their travel/feeding routes change frequently even with zero hunting pressure in my area. I will switch between places based on what I’m seeing that day.

NTX, me too. But it’s generally for what I’m not seeing.

I use game camera photos to determine where I would most likely see deer in the morning and evening and hunt them accordingly. Currently, I have a food plot where they show up more in the evening and a game trail they're burning up in the morning.

Game cameras show less than half the activity at any given camera area, unless its along a trail, and even then wont catch everything.
The only foolproof way to see whats happening in a given area is to be there and be alert. I have routinely seen many deer to include several mature bucks that never made it to cameras while hunting areas this year. Happens all the time. Esp if in texas with a rifle, there is no reason to use game cams only to tell what area to hunt. Can be a little different with a bow since ranges come into much shorter play.

Don’t think anyone is saying game cams are fool proof, rather that knowing “less than half the activity” is better than none of the activity. If I know pigs are hitting a feeder, I know deer won’t be there. If there are doe patterned, then the rut might bring a buck cruising by to check them out. Additional information helps more than it hurts

The last buck I shot on our place was at 11:30AM. I was picking at a lunch when he came within range chasing a doe. Mind you, they didn't come down to the feeder, where the game cam is, so I wouldn't have known they were around if I'd moved. And I would have missed them if I'd moved.

Feeders/food plots are not the bait (baiting), as far as bucks go. from my experience from leases, & @ property, foodplots/corn feeder Areas usualy buck only, while sitting, bow/rifle will see does, they the bait. Bucks put scrapes on outer edge, & the rub lines little further out. Scrapes used & freshened after rain or dries up, usualy @ night. Bucks run rub lines checking scrapes & food plot areas. @ place lived had old trailcams. Set off every min. One by feeder other @ stand. Demand shaped view, roughly 100yrds apart. Mostly doe pics, had put out a mock scrape ta the left of cam views were found a rub line, & put up trail cam. Got pics of buck refreshing it. Everyone has different experiences. i preferred, hang on & selfclimbing stands Deer know we're the box blinds are. Usualt stick in one place hit or miss. Bust of luck.

Really depends on the wind for me. I'd day I am having to deal with at least 2 different wind directions throughout normal 2-3 day trip tot he lease during deer season.
