That northern part, close to the earthquake, has a lot of conservatives, and hunters, in it. I read somewhere that, in terms of raw numbers, Donald Trump in 2020 got more votes from California than any other state.

Ferndale is Humboldt county. Timber industry and fishing. OJ Simpson went to college not far north of Ferndale, at Humboldt State… back in the 1960’s and 1970’s my old man used to take me salmon fishing out there. Beautiful area.

They're hunters, gun owners and vote Republican but they aren't conservative like Texans. They will be eventually. Around here we call them "Recovering Californians". It takes time.
