Cool find, no doubt. They should shoot it at the semiquincentenial.

"Excavations along the Santa Cruz River in Southern Arizona brought to light a bronze cannon, or a wall gun, used during the 1539-1542 expedition led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado to the modern-day American Southwest."

WOW!

So who would volunteer to light that one off? I wouldn't want to be within 100 yards of it.

That IS an amazing piece of history, though. Coronado's expedition set the stage for what happened over the next 300+ years

Not necessary…. Even a light black powder load makes a nice BOOM! Even without a projectile…

Gotcha. The idea of firing it without a projectile never entered my mind.

I'd still step away, though.

I’ve shot tennis balls and billiard balls out of it. My thought was about a pound to a pound and a half of 00 buck. I’ve already figured out how to make the canister. Thought about making a couple and shooting a sheet of plywood just to see what happens.

It is set up to fire by lighting a fuse but thought about using a model rocket motor igniter so it could be fired with the push of a button.

Here is a double pool ball shot…

Edit: these igniters….
