I shoot the sows when they give me a choice and I'm close enough to tell. I don't bother checking, I shoot them all. Then sort them out when they are dead if they are worth keeping/processing. Besides that, if there is a big group, it is going to be mostly sows and immature boars, the big boars tend to run alone or maybe with one other.
