Believe it or not I use a Buck Gardner Snow Goose call. Can make it sound just like a sandhill

I use a cheap Buck Gardner Canada call tuned a little different and of course how you use it is completely different than for geese. I too can make it sound pretty close.

The guys I’ve killed them with all use our short reed goose calls. Not particularly easy to master a short reed goose call but with a good bit of practice you can flutter the call and effectively mimic sandhill cranes. We don’t set up specifically for cranes but have been successful calling them into our goose spread in harvested grain fields. More of a bonus opportunity when cranes are migrating through where we are goose hunting. Your cover and concealment needs to be good or the cranes will pick you off.
