I am asking is this becoming a buyers market? Are end of the year deals plausible this year? Any insight is appreciated

Following. I'm thinking more and more about trading my 2015 Tundra. I shouldn't...but I am. I gotta cedar stick shoved in the antenna hole to keep it from rattling. 'Rubber grommet thingy dried out and fell apart. Low, low, low mileage though!

'Hope they have to eat the EVs. My son has a hybrid Ford 150. He told me Red McCombs Ford, one of the oldest and largest dealers in San Antonio, has exactly one trained tech in Service to work on anything electric. Idiots.

That rubber grommet is probably an easy fix.

Should be good this week, and last week of December. What are you looking for?

They are still expensive and interest rates (if you're financing) are stupid high!

New Car Inventory in 2024: Winners and Losers in November

Quote
Finally, after years of volatility, new car inventories are climbing above historical norms. We wouldn’t quite call it a buyers market since the remains well above what anyone would call affordable.

As we can see below, Stellantis brands have the most inventory, followed by GM and Ford among the mainstream automakers. Toyota and Honda have the least inventory, and as a result, the least negotiable prices.

This is what I'm seeing as I'm actively shopping. A few deals on 24's but 25's are not showing signs of huge discounts. Depends on what features you need.

I know. But I'm certain this place doesn't have a concept of exactly how lazy I actually am.

Certain brands are more willing to deal than others. The truck market, particularly the 3/4 and 1 ton segment, hasn’t softened that much at all, mainly due to them purposefully not keeping inventory in the lots.

I’m a lousy negotiator. And I know it. I tell the sales guy that. I ask the dealer/sales guy how much they can take off list. They generally hit me with a stupid price and I hand them my business card with my phone number. I tell them I’ll keep looking at other cars and walk away. If they call with a reasonable price I go back. If not, I keep shopping for the guy who really wants to sell.

Just bought a '25 Honda Pilot OTD with Gap right at MSRP. Most dealers were starting at $1000 off MSRP sale price plus TTL. Neither hot nor cold for buyers IMO.

Saw one dealer ad pushing deals on 2023 model trucks, I think inventory might be an issue for them. wink

I would aim for 10k off of a higher trim Toyota. Watch out for 4k in stupid dealer add-ons. 10k off can be had.GameDay!

Never mind, they have moved most of their 2024s.

Grommet for Tundra Antenna. $7 on Amazon. This is what I bought to replace the one on my 2013 that rotted out. Took 5 minutes to swap. Just make sure you keep your antenna attached when you pull the old grommet. The last thing you want to do is drop the antenna cable down the fender well hole.

I got $14k off of msrp on a ‘25 Ram 1500 last month. I shopped around a lot and most places were about the same price as it was max allowable with the rebates. (Or so I was told).

Not in the market myself, but I do see dealers offering 0% financing. That’s a solid indicator that deals can be had.

if I try to go buy new vehicle my problem is financing. My credit score is 800, debt is zero which says I have no revolving debt and sizable amount of money in the bank, I know just pay cash but would like to build some credit. if I wanted to get financing they would stick me with higher interest. I tried to cosign a loan for my son couple months ago and he was declined due to my lack of revolving credit. I have had zero revolving debt in about 15 years! Only route I could do is tell them give me good interest for term and they get term interest rate paid back or stick me with higher rate and I pay it off soon as it's reported positive credit and they would get less long term. Only an idea they probably don't care what I do.

If you’re at 800, I don’t think you’ll get much higher of a number. You should be getting a lower interest rate.
