With that “rock” diet hes on its hard to expect much…… Some leases have good genetics, good habitat and a good plan in place and would cull him even if hes two. I would not at two but probably at 3. Any culling for me would assume you needed mouths off the range and the buck doe ratio called for it. He’s definitely a POS in my book but I like to give em a few years to see if they could at least be something a novice hunter might be proud of. A 120” 8 pt is a “Trophy” to many.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH
Unless you are on a high fence with MLD tags, the usefulness of "culling" a buck is nothing more than a willingness to shoot it and waste a buck tag.
The genetic potential of a deer is never fully maximized on vast majority of low fence ranches, and the ability to fully manage a deer herd with just one or two people on a large low fence property is almost impossible simply due to the number of deer tags possible, UNLESS MLD tags are issued and people put in the work.
So assuming this a typical low fence non-MLD tag property, the OP question boils down to one of a couple simple questions: 1. Does he want to burn a tag on this deer? 2. Is there someone else who wants to burn a tag on this deer? 3. Are there better deer to shoot on this property the OP wants to shoot, so wasting a buck tag on this dink is not reasonable?
Indeed....the "let him walk", "give him another year" Gents have much more patience than me.....or a lot of trash walking around consuming feed and creating off-spring.
