Date Hunted 11/9/24:

Despite tropical storm Rafael out in the Gulf of Mexico making our lives difficult pumping SE winds 30mph all weekend pushing the water up 3 feet higher than normal we shot ducks. We stood in a foot of water on the platform of our blinds while hunting. Temperature was 75 degrees in the morning cloudy conditions. Picture shows the six man limit from Saturday and as you can see the dog is looking at us.

Shot another six man limit Sunday same conditions.

Off to a great start for the year.

As long as you have bug spray they are fine. Without it it would be miserable.

I see the dog didn’t get eaten by an alligator, that’s good.

In Louisiana the alligator is the one that needs to worry about getting ate.

Date hunted November 14, 2024:

Fantastic conditions for a duck hunt in my book. Finally tropical storm Rafael is gone and a cool front passed though last night in SE Louisiana. Light NW winds about 60 degrees and water finally has gotten back to normal.

From first light the teal were on the move almost as if it was opening day coming from every direction. Busted up some of those. Then we got a few gadwall and one pintail hen. Two real nice drake red heads are on the table. Ringneck ducks all over the place letting them go. The dog did a great job rounding the ducks up this morning. Fine duck hunting dog! 18 ducks for the limit.

In the past when we had high water the ducks would be gone but for some reason they stayed after this past high tide event. I don't even try to figure it out anymore just take it as it comes and know how lucky we are.

We hunt on Saturday and Sunday.
