I mentioned, in an earlier gripe, that both main house toilet fill valve quit the other evening. I had to get new ones, which are a pain to install, but it isn’t very difficult. After some internet research, it came down to getting the Fluidmaster 400A or 400H. Both toilets had failed 400A valves, and the 400H units looked a bit fancier, so I went for the 400H units for replacement. I needed two, but bought 3, to have a spare. And while digging around in my barn stuff, I found another 400H, giving me 4 good units. Well, two of the new ones failed, being not so good. I think the message here is to buy a couple extra, just in case. And remain calm during installation.
And the diff between the 400A and 400H is that the H is supposed to be the quiet version, whereas the A fills the toilet tank faster. I shoulda got the cheaper A units.
I’ll return the defective H units tomorrow.

I hate messing with toilets mainly because of the limited space to work.

I’ll return the defective H units tomorrow. Don’t forget, while doing plumbing work you need to be showing a proper plumbers crack.
