Started my deer cooler this weekend, put up with a lot of rain, but I got the floor finished, starting on the walls now. A buddy and I bought the walls for an old walk in cooler for a $100. 00. Fiberglass insulation but the price was right, I am going to double the outside walls, foaming the joints and we will build a ceiling for it, 10,000 btu a/c unit for and a inkbird controller, when we get finished we should have less than $500.00 in the whole thing. Cooler will be 4?feet wide and about 8 feet long by 8 feet tall, rest of the building will be for processing deer and hogs. [img]http://[/img]

We use a coolbot at the ranch but are looking to put a cooler in our garage .

At 62 years old and recovering from shoulder replacement surgery I have to be creative with how to move tha walls in place. I got the ceiling in place and foamed up to keep the rain out which will be here tomorrow. I forgot to take pics so I will post some pictures tomorrow.

There’s a video on YouTube that tells how to do it with a single inkbird, you basically bypass the a/c’s thermostat and wire the fan to run full time. The ink bird tells the compressor to when to start and when to stop, I believe you could cool the room to below freezing but all I need is around 38 to 42 degrees. I will be hanging deer on a double rail system , I don’t think I will ever have more than 3 or 4 deer in it at one time. I myself will never have more than 2 at one time, but friends and family I know will always want to use it.

I will side the building with Zip wall and roof it with metal, I work for a lumber company and bought the Cull lumber and the metal roof is leftover from a customer building a chicken broiler house.

I have been working on it but have have a few unrelated things come up, I have the A/C installed and have been siding it with Zip wall, have been adding the styrofoam to the inside, have a door to install and I need to put a roof on it tomorrow. Will get more pics then.

Remembered to take some pics today, need to attach two pieces of roofing, will be attaching the door tomorrow and running electrical for the cooler

Got the roof almost finished, had a slight problem with the a/c but got that fixed, I had to hard wire the fans to the compressor, gutted all of the thermostat crap on the a/c. Runs great on the single inkbird, I will start working on the hanging track next but the cooler is functional now!

What temperature will it hold

I set it for 38* and holds it easily, I could set it to freeze but I don’t think I will ever need to.

Looking good and being able to hold that temp is nice. Wish me or a friend had something like this.

34-36 degrees is optimal from what I have read by professional butchers/game processors. As cold as possible without freezing the meat. Nice job on that cooler. I need to do something like that.
